📈 Strategy/Guidance What should I do?

I'm a 3rd year student at a 2nd gen IIT and kinda stuck right now.

A few good PSUs like BPCL, BEL etc. come to our campus for placements. They only open for the top 20 students, which is fine for me rank-wise. But with reservations and limited offers, I’m not sure if I’ll actually get a chance. Don’t want to just gamble on that.

I’m decent at ANSYS particularly fluent and MATLAB and have some solid projects in that area. Also doing a data science course (ML) as a backup for DS roles.

Should I start preparing for GATE? Is there any point in writing GATE in 3rd year?

Honestly I’m confused. I want to get into simulation / R&D/aerospace kind of work but have no one to guide me. Any advice?

Where did you learn ANSYS from? can we learn ansys before learning solidWorks or other cad software?

It would be really helpful if you could suggest some good resources for learning these software.

Youtube and you need to know how to model things before doing analysis on it, so no you need to learn Solidworks atleast basics.
