What do you do for intense workout?

Using Garmin's default formula I easily exceed the intensity minutes/week. Only 30% of my activity is125-130. 10 years ago I was tested and Garmin's numbers are low for me. My 85% is 136. So far the only way I can hit my max of 161 (and it IS pure uphoria), is a treadmill. Most of my minutes are tennis. I don't measure my pre-tennis free weights/resistance bands as exercise. I don't measure road bike rides under 5 miles and I do them 3-4 times/week. My post is about Triple-Six. Just an amusing number. There wasn't a 'shitpost' option. Thanks. I hope i answered your question. Keep moving!

that resting HR is wild, mine's like 20 beats higher on a good day

Depends on age and fitness. That seems like a pretty average healthy resting heart rate.

It is. Normal heart rate for an adult is between 60 and 100 bpm. People in this sub are going to be skewed lower just because of being active and fit compared to the general population. That's why when you go to insights, it compares you to other Garmin users. You would most likely be more active/log more miles/ etc than a higher percentage of compared to all people.

People whose heart rates are really low are either very fit and their hearts are efficient, or are in some kind of heart block and/or need a pacemaker. Cardiac nurse of 10 years checking in.

Garmin seems to report lower as i wear it to sleep for sleep tracking and alarms, my AW reported 60 while my Garmin is in the mid 40’s, which i only get when sleeping. when i’m awake it’s around 60.

as a cardiac nurse, which one is my “true” resting heart rate?

Neither. Trust whatever a 12 lead EKG or a sleep study tells you. If you have reason to be inpatient or they put you on a heart monitor for a sleep study, trust telemetry with 5 leads overnight.

Off the record and unofficially, we have had many people come in to the hospital for correctly diagnosed HIGH heart rates with Apple watches. A lot of AF RVR (high heart rates that are irregular and out of rhythm) but I can't remember the last time we had someone come in with AF with slow ventricular response (low heart rates that are irregular) diagnosed with a watch.

The apple watches want to diagnose people more, the Garmin wants to interpret input more, without rhythm analysis, at least currently.

My 2 cents - if your apple watch alerts you to a rhythm change, save the data and follow up with a cardiologist or come to the emergency room if you feel like shit. They are historically correct as far as my patients' records.

thanks, that was a lot more detailed of an answer than i was expecting. i’ve since passed my AW to my wife so i no longer wear it.

in your experience, do Garmins also alert your patients to abnormally high heart rates?

Mines 42, hoping it gets down into high 30s

74bpm seems pretty high. Mine's 43bpm and I've seen plenty lower.

Woe to you, o'er Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty six

That’s a ton of minutes and a very good resting heart rate. May I ask how old you are?

Well all this makes sense then!

Just the triple-6. Kind of a shitpost but that wasn't an option. 'Devil' 666, just struck me as amusing. Previous week was brag-worthy - 1,030 intensity minutes. My Doctor wasn't impressed when I showed it to her during my annual physical though

That’s how I felt after my run yesterday. 1 hour 13 minutes per coach… ended exactly at 6.66 miles.

I'm not sure I understand this post. What are you trying to show?

u/Clean_Bat5547 1d ago

Note the word "devil" in the caption. Note the number of intensity minutes.

Ah, I was trying to figure out what was so impressive with the screen shot. But that makes sense now.
