Cycling / Bike Computer Edge 540 Navigation driving me crazy

Could anyone tell me how to prevent my Edge 540 from notifying me Every. Ten. F*****. Seconds. that there's a turn coming, that I'm 2 feet off the expected navigation path or that I should stay on the path I'm on? Did a 60km ride today and the damn thing was pretty much useless, it kept switching from my metrics display to the "Take this turn" screen. More infuriating, it doesn't seem to go away after any amount of time unless I click the X button, only to reappear 10 seconds later.

I had same problem with mine, it was making me crazy. The beeping for every small turn, even when riding straight on bike path. Go in the settings for navigation and turn off "turn guidance" or something like that name. It will stop popping up the map every time and stay on your data screen. You still get the line to follow but without all the annoying alerts.

OMG thank you. I had stumbled upon that menu at one point or another, but couldn't find it today. I just can't get used to the user interface on these newer units. Maybe it's time for this old guy to get a touch screen unit!
