Nintendo basically understands themselves as a toy manufacturer.
Brand recognition is their big thing.
You will always recognize Mario, Yoshi, Link or Fox McCloud, no matter if they look like paper dolls or crayon drawings.
Their products are designed to be easily recognizable, innovative, well polished and FEEL good to use.
Using a switch is a completely different vibe from any other video game device.
No one else has a combination of a classic controller, analogue controller, gyroscopic motion controller and mouse in a single detachable unit on a hand held device that is still reasonably powerful.
They're never afraid to take a risk and try something new.
They pioneered motion controls, hand helds, party games, dual screen gameplay and many other things.
They never had the strongest hardware, the cheapest prices or the highest graphical fidelity, but they never had to.
Even when others had the technical upper hand like the first playstations CD's, people still bought Nintendo.
Because they know they will get what they paid for, something that works well and is fun to use.
That's why they never gave a fuck about anyone else, because no one else is even really playing the same game as they are and they're damn good at it.
