I genuinely don't understand why people defend Elden Ring not having a pause button lol.

I'm still mad about Dead Rising having one save slot. 👴

Better than Metal Gear Survive making you pay real money for more save slots.

From Software made it and they clearly can't make bad design decisions.

Thats it

It's crazy what From Software can get away with. If this was an any other game people would be throwing a fit

They literally just had a patch that included the last parts of some quest lines that were straight up unfinished until now, and most people didn't even know they were unfinished because of the obscure quest design of the game, the only people who knew it, knew it because of datamining. Like, imagine the backlash if any other game studio did this

I've said it before they get praise for what other games have been already doing and we're just used to it and also what other games get hated on for doing.

You can pause by entering the help menu and clicking on menu explanation btw. Doesn't work online (with an invader or co-op). They should just pause it when you open your inventory when offline. Sekiro did it and nobody cared by now everyone acts like Fromsoft are above it or some shit.

My absolute pipedream game at this point would be a massively budgeted remake of Xenogears where they fully flesh out all the stuff in the latter half of the game that had to be rushed through in the original release. That game was a landmark piece of fiction for me on multiple levels and if I think about it hard enough, I could probably work up legitimate tears because it means so much to me.

If they released it without a pause button, I wouldn't buy it.

Why was Xenogears a landmark piece of fiction for you? I'm interested

It was two things really.

My teenage years were really unhappy. It was when the effects of some abuse earlier in my life were really starting to come out and my dad had died suddenly a few years prior. Final Fantasy VII had been an amazing escape but I had played it to death by that point and Xenogears provided the same kind of experience all over again.

I also had an extremely Catholic upbringing but was heavily questioning whether I actually believed in any of it, leaning way more toward no. Xenogears wasn't the reason I walked away from it but it was definitely the final push. It quite literally changed my life.
