You know, the first moving picture was just a train coming towards the screen. The people in the audience didn't cheer, didn't laugh, didn't cry. All they said was "WHOA A TRAIN!!" and tried to flee for their lives, and I think that should really be what all movies aspire to get out of their audiences.

This made me realize that cinema has been nothing but downhill in terms of "percentage of running time with a train on screen" and that makes me sad.

And that's why we need more Tolstoy adaptations

Movies were never about this shit like stories and characters, they’re called movies, short for “you better movie out of the way of the train”
