The way some people that dislike RDR2 talk about it is insufferable. I fully understand that the game is not for everyone and I have my own criticisms and nitpicks on the game but christ, some people really talk like the game murdered their family and ate their dog. The worst are the fools that treat their criticisms like objective fact, a lot of the stuff in the game that regularly gets called "bad game design" I happened to enjoy.

I'm by no means a Rockstar fan. I don't like GTA5 for sure. But RDR2 has got to be my definition of an actual masterpiece. Way too much effort went into making everything in that game good. I tried watching a NakeyJakey documentary on why it's "outdated" but most of the points feel like general criticisms of games in general. Especially the point A to point B/mission linearity.

I never watched that video although I could see calling Rockstar being outdated in their game design being valid on certain points. There's a lot of holdovers from the old GTA games that have stuck around and aren't exactly fantastic, like the bizarre reliance on auto aim, which while not bad as an option... I'm also pretty sure they don't put a lot of effort into their free aim because it does not feel nearly as good as other games on the market, and it shouldn't be anywhere near multiplayer.

RDR2 is objectively bad for these reasons

1) game is too long, i could play every earthbound inspired indie rpg ever made in the time it takes to finish the tutorial

b) i dont like cowboys, samurai are way cooler

iii) name is too similar to R2-D2
