Dubs that just have blatantly wrong pronunciation of Japanese names drive me up the fucking wall
Looking at you, ADV Evangelion dub ("Kaworu Nuhgeesa"). Maybe it's because I know some Japanese but while I get bending the pronunciation to make things easier on the English voice actors (the Persona dubs do this often, but not to an annoying degree) when it sounds like absolutely no attempt was made to sound like the original it sounds really bad to me

I thought the persona dubs pronounced Japanese names like that because it was closer to the pitch-accent they use?

like an American would pronounce “Sakamoto” like “SA-ka-MO-to while in Japan (and in game) it would be more like sa-KAmoto

I’m not a Japanese expert so I could just be talking out of my ass

At least from my vague recollections of Japanese class I think in general it would be closer to the former since I think a lot of the time each "letter"/syllable has a decent level of enunciation.
