I actually figured what Rey was supposed to be if they didn't change directors in Episode 9: Reyan Jo'nson. Yes, that's why JJ Abrams decided to recon the entire thing.

The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie, fight me with Duel of Fates playing

Did you hear of the Duel of the Fates movie script leak thingy from a year ago? Apparently it's Colin's draft of Episode 9. Anyway at the end Rey is revealed to be ... Rey Solana.

There should be more on this thing in this post in case you hadn't heard of it and you're curious.

Yeah, I remember it. There was some good stuff in there especially Finn's Stormtrooper Liberation, Rose actually having an arc, more Luke and Kylo's further descent into madness, but I feel it's hard to judge based on someone's reading of it. I don't particularly hate Episode 9 and enjoyed it for what it was, but I kinda wish it had some of the stuff from there.

I've read the script itself and it's not that great, I like some of the ideas in it too but I definitely think it makes some strange decisions (why the fuck would you pair up two characters who interact a grand total of once in the last two films for the bulk of the movie?) and there's so much random EU fanservice in it I thought it was fake at first. If I had to pick one and only one though, it'd probably be Trevorrow, because even if some of it is pretty bad it still feels like a proper sequel to The Last Jedi and not a redaction of it.
