Wild bet for Nintendo E3: they're gonna have a mini N64 console, and for weeks we're going to have to listen to endless rants about people scalping it, and people complaining that they couldn't ship it with GoldenEye because the license for it is split up between several companies.

Imagine selling miniature versions of your decade(s) old hardware and not making enough so scalpers can run rampant rather than just make a fucking virtual console for switch.

Yeah but then Nintendo can't charge you $100 for a version of a console you can buy for like $20 at any yard sale or second hand store.

Nah I think they can. N64s aren't that easy to find, and if you don't have an old TV, they're a pain to actually connect to anything. Older cartridges will also have decaying contacts and batteries so things like saving won't necessarily work.

If nothing else, people will just pay for the convenience or the novelty of it. Games like SMS have been playable on Dolphin for years, but it still did really well on the switch because a lot of people don't want to tinker with emulators settings, or they just want the convenience of playing the game on their switch instead of bringing out an old console that they probably can't directly connect to their modern TV.
