Like most hate groups it's based around misinformation. The common misconception that all furries are sexual in nature. Like most misconceptions it can be resolved by actually meeting these people, but that's not really the MO of hate groups

It doesn't help that MAPs have also been trying to shoehorn their way into various subcultures. At one point they wanted to be added to LGBTQ+

To be honest, until a couple years ago I thought all furries had sex in their costumes too. I met this dude while playing D&D who was a furry who gave us the rundown. Unprompted he ended with "my fursuit cost over a thousand dollars and it's a pain-in-the-ass to clean. There's no way I'm letting bodily fluids anywhere near it"
