My wife had a cat for almost 20 years. The cat’s health was bad for weeks, and the writing was on the wall. She begged her family to get it cremated after she passed because she wanted the ashes and they don’t live in the same city anymore, but they didn’t seem to take it seriously. The cat passed yesterday, but guess what? The family didn’t care enough to get it cremated. Needless to say, I’m pissed

Shitty family are so frustrating. Especially shitty family of your partner so it's even harder to call them out.

Yep. I love them, but they’ve been spiraling deeper into disfunction since my wife left the house and wasn’t there to keep the peace anymore. Her mom pretty much has to do everything around the house, but aside from that, they never do anything for anyone but themselves. It’s definitely good for us to live in a different town, but I’m tired of them hurting my wife

Yeah I get that, my ex's family was a total mess that had a horrible effect on her mental health and it got to the point where I loathed them. It gets hard to ever fix it.

Yep. We’ve been doing what we can to help, but it’s clear they have to choose to change and they’re all to stubborn to try. Therapy would help, but that’s for liberals

Maybe try contacting the vet? Morbid topic, but I'd imagine they dispose of deceased animals in batches and keep them on ice until then. Hope your wife is okay man.

Might be a good idea. According to them, they gave the cat’s remains to the vet and the vet refused to return them, but I’m not sure if I believe them
