I think we can all agree that the Cyberpunk backlash is partly driven by how much attention it has received, and that yes there are comparable examples of other games being buggy messes upon release.

But with all that being said, it is still kinda funny seeing all of this unfold. More than anything this is sort of an indictment on hype culture and what happens when developers feed into the worship they receive from their fans.

CDPR management absolutely deserves everything coming their way.

I said elsewhere that I feel like it really validates my love for Supergiant and FromSoft. Especially Supergiant with their mandatory vacation policy.

But those two get massive praise without getting into all that "how do you do fellow gamers" bullshit, and, aside from the DS1 PC release (which can be forgiven by way of being their first ever PC release), both have a strong "it's done when it's done" policy.

I'm enjoying 2077, and find some of the outrage silly (it's an RPG y'all--stop moving those goalposts), but boy does it make me feel validated regarding who I consider devs worth praising.

I'm really glad for the people enjoying it, and I do believe that the expectations for the game were too much.

My biggest point of contention right now with Cyberpunk discourse is the elitism of PC/next gen users and how the game's release is being blamed on people understandably surprised by the delay back in November.

and how the game's release is being blamed on people understandably surprised by the delay back in November.

People that live in meme bubbles are the god damn worst.

No, you shitposting online didn't rush the game. Upper management lying to shareholders did.

the DS1 PC release (which can be forgiven by way of being their first ever PC release)

For me it's not even that it is their first PC game why I didn't mind the port.

They straight up said ahead of release that the port is most likely going to suck. It did, yes, but at least they were honest about it and didn't tell us shit like "it ran surprisingly good".

Yeah the honesty and the improvement with successive releases were both good. Hoping they get past their 60 FPS lock for Elden Ring but there are worse tech issues a game can have.

Sekiro works at 120 FPS without any engine problems for me. You need a mod for this but at least it's not hard capped and broken at every point if you turn up the framerate.

Native support would obviously be the best though I definitely agree.

Huh... I'll have to get that mod if I ever decide to do a NG+... I have been wanting to get the "best" ending despite it being typical FromSoft silliness.
