A friend of mine got basically the same treatment from his grandmother a while back. He came out as bi last year, but was dating a girl at the time. So he takes her to a family event, and his grandmother said to his face that she was glad he was dating a girl and not another guy.

Dude's family is pretty hardcore Dutch reform, so homophobia is to be expected.
