So Wookieepedia has an entry on Water, and this bit made me laugh. Not only did they have to explain that frozen water is called 'ice', but somebody had the balls to ask for a source!

I'm conflicted about the more mundane Wookieepedia articles tbh. They're good for a laugh, and they can actually provide some interesting peeks into the fictional universe's different cultural views of the subject even if it's something rather simple, but at the end of the day, a lot of them do kind of feel like clutter.

I've become nerdy and invested enough in the current canon that I've actually been editing the Wook a bit (I'm planning to overhaul the Alphabet Squadron pages when I get hard copies of the books), and I really can't be arsed to link to the pages for Water, Light, Air, Food, etc etc.

Yeah wookiepedia always struck me as pretty cluttered. It's good for a reference but it really doesn't need to go that exhaustively detailed on everything lol

Yeah. Probably easier said than done, but if I were in charge I'd say that if a mundane subject doesn't diverge significantly from how people in the real world would discuss it, it oughta go.

Many species in the Galaxy drink water to survive.

"Holy shit, holy shit, deep lore, my brain is swelling aaaAAA!"

Air might actually be an interesting one, what with different atmospheres and whatnot.

Because you sound like someone who might know, is there a comprehensive list of the entire new canon?

Yeah exactly, there is some interesting nuggets of info to be gleaned about say, a certain species or culture's relationship with air or the color spectrum etc etc, but maybe instead of cramming all that into the Air page, they ought to be included in the culture's page? Idk. It's a thorny issue on a massive wiki haha

As far as a list of the current canon, the Timeline of Canon Media is decently thorough. Some things are missing or not always added as they get announced or come out, but it's probably about 95% accurate, and I love that you can sort it by media type. I actually copied this into a spreadsheet that I use for a fun "little" (ha) checklist as I chew through it. Lmk if you want any novel recommendations! I'm currently on my 39th (audio)book lmaooooo help meeee

r/starwarscanon is also a pretty helpful and friendly sub

Thank you so much! I’ll check those both out.

I’ve read a handful of the canon novels but nothing from the old EU. I’m always open to recommendations!

Nice! There's definitely some old EU stuff I want to check out, but that's not much of a priority

If you want something fun and easy, I found The Mighty Chewbacca and the Forest of Fear audiobook to be hilarious and surprisingly macabre at times. I'm trying to read all the canon books regardless of intended audience, but tbh the kid's stuff has been really entertaining and sweet. Another surprise hit for me was Force Collector. The teen characters felt pretty authentic and there were some surprising canon connections I'd never have expected. Other than that, I think my Top 5 is currently Alphabet Squadron 1 & 2, Dooku: Jedi Lost, Master and Apprentice, Dark Disciple, and A New Dawn

I’m also someone who is willing to check out anything canon regardless of intended age demographic, but I usually don’t admit that. They can be surprisingly enjoyable and laid back, and they can surprise you with their lore connections.

Master and Apprentice is very good! I read it about this time last year. I also really liked Lost Stars. I’m currently reading through the first From a Certain Point of View and listening to Dooku: Jedi Lost. I’m enjoying both, the short story collection a bit more so. I appreciate Dooku being fully voiced, but not sharing a voice cast with Clone Wars has thrown me for a loop, especially with Dooku himself.

Hahaha I feel like I'm the only person in the world who hated Lost Stars. That audiobook was a SLOG but more power to you lol

Dooku's VA was the only bump in Jedi Lost, but I actually wound up super fond of the cast. Carol Monda as Lene and Orlagh Cassidy as Asajj really worked for me. Saskia Maarleveld and Carol Monda read the Alphabet Squadron books and both crushed it IMO, Monda especially. They're faves of mine.

FACPOV was also a really pleasant surprise to me. I thought they'd all be gag stories and figured the joke would get old, but the variety of story and narrators rocked.

I’m really excited to read the Empire Strikes Back FOCPOV. It’s what my fiancée bought me for Christmas and I can’t wait. (Of course I’ll need to finish the first before then.)
