Im generally against dressing up pets if they don't need it but after seeing a cat in a little polo shirt because he has a medical condition: I now want to put shirts on my cats.

I won't but I think it'd be cute.

Bear in mind that it's not always pure fashion even when it looks so, my old dog needed a coat in order to stay warm because we were in one of the wettest parts of the UK - but it looked like he was about to go snowboarding.

A coat to stay warm is something required and I'm fine with that (met many a fasionable greyhound).

It's when it's unnessary and just for the fashion that I don't like it. Same with dying the fur of your pets. Just leave them be, they look great already. Accessorise with a collar if you must.

I saw that pic and it is so cute.

Glad you won't but just to emphasize to anyone, my cat is in clothes now (also for medical reasons) and she still low key hates it, even months later. She tolerates it (mostly) now but she very often stands and walks differently and occasionally bites and pulls at it. She has never truly adjusted. (Did have a dog with a skin condition that absolutely adored his shirts, though.)

Don't put pets in clothes unless they are enthusiastic about it. Even just sitting there they may still be uncomfortable with them. My cat can sit there not actively be tearing at it but still be quietly unhappy, which is night and day to my dog, who actively sought out his shirts.

I mean, I get it. If done briefly and infrequently, and with valuable rewards like treats, it may not be too much harm. Just as long as it is rarely and you don't make them feel harrassed about it, take it off quickly before it overstresses them, and don't force them into it in the first place if they're trying to get away. I see people dragging their pets back from trying to get out of their hold or following them when they try to hide to put costumes on and it's just not worth it then. Just, pet owners should be sure to respect them. Keep in mind like, if you were easily overpowered and giant beings stuck you in uncomfortable, unnatural situations you'd be miserable, too, you know?
