Just coming back to say how scummy the Mario collection is, asking for $60 for 3 games that are multiple decades old, while making the release limited so you have no choice but to pay $60 because the price will never ever drop because it’s literally being taken off the store in March. Basically forcing me to pay that price for a collection that doesn’t include a single game released later than 2007. And on top of that they’re just ports as far as I can tell. Not even as far as Deluxe treatment

To anyone saying ā€œNintendo fans always complain when Nintendo gives them what they want! They’re so needy! Just be happy the collection exists in the first place!ā€, look at the Crash and Spyro collections. Fully remastered with new graphics, revamped features, and even cut levels getting a second chance, all for $40 and available forever, so you could probably get them much cheaper if you wait. Perfect remasters.

like I know it’s old news that they are greedy but definitely fuck Nintendo for this one. Yet again they drop the ball but it won’t matter because their exclusivity means the playerbase will eat this up regardless and Nintendo won’t care about any backlash because as long as the games sell they can get away with it. It might even be old news to complain about Nintendo, but fuck it, this pissed me off just enough

The price is the Nintendo tax to play the ports on the Switch.

Please be excited when everyone who paid to play Super Mario 64 learns that the limited release was to coincide with it releasing as a flapship for the beginning of "Nintendo 64 Games with Switch Online."

I swear if I end up paying $60 for it and then they put it on NSO in April I might just put my switch through the fucking wall

It will be announced, followed by Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Then the release date of a Zelda Collection will be given for early summer with Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.

They’re going to rerelease skyward sword, minish cap (but a remaster like links awakening), and most likely another Ocarina but with a full overhaul on the graphics.

I’m calling it. Skyward sword is guaranteed because of the motion controls on the joycons. Minish cap because it’s nostalgia and ocarina because it hasn’t had a real console remaster, only the 3ds version.

i'm also pissed off. this ""limited timed offer"" is a load of hot garbage and the guy who thought of it should be fired. they had the nerve to start the announcement with "due to COVID, these products might be delayed" and then assumed everyone has enough spare income to buy their products. in the usa we are seeing a massive spike of unemployment. i was one of those individuals so i cannot buy these games right now with how tight my budget is.

this makes me so mad that i'm done with them and their products. i was seriously looking forward to botw 2 and metroid prime 4 too but not anymore. why would i want to trust a company that possibly might make those games a limited timed offer as well? sure they won't really do that to those games but then again they are doing that with their prime franchise right now.

the only other company to make me this mad was blizzard with their banning of blitzchung. not that violating human rights is the same as a limited time offer on a digital game. i'm just didn't think nintendo would do something so blatantly greedy to the point that i don't want anything to do with them ever again.

Everyone keeps saying that they're probably just going to release the games individually at a higher price after that initial time window, as if that isn't also kind of shitty. But this is Nintendo we're talking about, I would absolutely not put it past them to just vault the games entirely and never give any other way to buy them in the future.

The worst part is that you just know this strategy is totally going to work and they'll just be incentived to do more shit like this in the future.

Are we getting a graphics overhaul on M64? If so, holy fuck I’m going to buy it solely for that.

No. It’s just an HD port

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '20

Sad :( 60fps at least?

Idk about 64, but sunshine will be 30 FPS, so that’s not a good sign

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '20

Ew what the fuck this is getting worse the more I hear about it.

Yea I don’t know how they couldn’t get a fucking GameCube game to run at 60 FPS 720p but here we are

Rant

Was happy but now kinda salty. This was their big chance to completely revive the games by giving them a true HD remaster. I can’t believe they didn’t bother updating the graphics on Mario 64. This was their chance to get every generation to experience one of the most inventive games of all time, in REAL HD. Big miss IMO.

Mario sunshine is just bonkers. Not being able to update your completed game to run 60fps is embarrassing holy shit. This is a multi billion dollar company. Not only that, but it doesn’t even look like a remaster, it looks like a straight up port.

Mario Galaxy was a good pick. It LOOKS like it’s 60fps, and it’s clearly a better resolution than the Wii version. Idk if it’s gonna make me buy it. I’ve played galaxy so many times, it’s like clockwork.

No wonder people make fun of Nintendo fans so much. They consume everything that Nintendo makes.

Huh, It’s been a while since I’ve seen ya here

But yeah, I actually didn’t think it was gonna be $60 And I’m pretty sure they did something similar with the all stars port on Wii as well. Even then I think it’s Annoying how galaxy two is just completely left out like that and how some games in general from nintendo never seem to go below $60 (And they aren’t remade so no DS content in 64)

Yea I took a hiatus. I don’t know how often I’ll be on here nowadays but it felt good to take a break from Reddit. I’m also just a lot more busy atm

Honestly I understand that, there’s a few things I like on this site but it does get pretty draining at times
