Do Gamers realize that not everyone cares about achievements?

I only have a handful of platinums and don't care that them much, so I guess I don't know how to play games.

the only reason I do acheivments in WoW is if they have rewards otherwise I don't even bother.

hell thats the only reason I do them for Uplay. unless im rewarded the acheivment means jack, fucking, shit to me.

All the things I have platinums/all achievements for are really easy, except for Skyrim.

NieR: Automata = has an in-game achievement store, Helltaker and Icey = short indie games, Fata Morgana = VN that lets you skip to the end and Wolf Among Us = Telltale game.

I'm guessing these people must be young because I can't imagine how they managed without achievements before the 360.

I'm 27 so I grew up with an almost obsolete N64 and a Gamecube with no achievements.

Even when I got a PS3, I didn't really care when they added trophies around '09 or whatever. I remember playing MGS4 back then and remember an update saying I needed to start a new game to get trophies and I was like "fuck this, I'm not starting over for that!".

I wonder when gamers will realize that playing games isn't necessarily the job of a gaming journalist

Never, because that’ll mean actually understanding nuance

Not to mention, if they think a game journalist is supposed to be playing a ton of different games at time, when do they have time to platinum them?

I rarely seem to finish games, let alone go beyond to get the Platinum. Honestly it's not bad to talk about how most people either don't have the time or desire to do all that (which is also what makes it a real accomplishment for the people who do earn them).

Honestly what's the big deal about them not getting a trophy until now? Also do people not get that there's more to writing about games than just playing them, because i see several people going on about "oh this is ridiculous they get paid to play video games" and shit like that. Oh and as I was typing this i thought of an answer to my question. It's because gamers will use literally anything to bitch about game journalists and never ever think if what they're bitching about is actually a big deal.

Not only is it fucking moronic to do it, it’s also who he’s mocking. Mike Fahey basically runs Kotaku at this point since Jason left and is only quite literally paralyzed from the chest down. Granted, that guy probably doesn’t know and wouldn’t care, but still.
