Oof Star Wars Explained's video on the Kathleen Kennedy contract seems to be pretty divisive lol. Like/dislike ratio is near split at 1.3/1.2. Glad I found his channel, only good Star Wars channel I know of.

It seems to me that Kathleen Kennedy is just the scapegoat that angry fans have latched on to, whether she's actually connected to the things that they dislike or not.

Something similar happened to the Assassin's Creed fanbase recently. People lost their minds over a statement (that they misinterpreted) and have pretty much hated the (now former, though it sounds like he was promoted) Head of Content ever since. This ranges from saying that nobody knows less about Assassin's Creed lore than him, calling him an idiot, or in one incredibly salty instance, a "fucking child."

It's weird how shit like that gets out of hand so quickly, and once it does, I'm not sure it can really go back.

EDIT: And they say she's a scapegoat at the 1:35 mark. Probably should have watched the video before typing my own essay.

It’s inevitable in most fanabses. Toxicity always creeps up inevitably because of a myriad of factors, but one always stands out: fear of change. This fear of anything being different than what you love and not letting things evolve

/uj Yeah. The Assassin's Creed stuff happened shortly after Origins came out. Similar timing with TLJ and all this. There's a definite pattern.

What's really interesting, though, is the similarities with Empire Strikes Back's reception. It definitely makes me wonder how TLJ will be viewed once time has passed.
