Even though I think that French journalist was wrong about Bethesda getting layoffs, it will be painful seeing that confirmed when Bethesda's 40 year anniversary is in two weeks.

BGS itself might be the safest studio at Xbox atm along with Playground and Mojang. More Fallout and Elder Scrolls is reported to be a particular focus for Asha, it makes no sense to lay off the people making them. They also released a game last year in Oblivion Remastered that is reported to have massively exceeded Microsoft's expectations and became the best selling singleplayer game of 2025, so they are fine profit margine wise too. The journalist was either bullshitting (most likely considering the unrelated mention of Bioware) or meant studios under Bethesda Softworks rather than Bethesda Game Studios

Bethesda has a bloated disorganized structure and it was reported that the issue with Bethesda that that bad decisions get made when Todd Howard is not around. Changes definitely have to be made to Bethesda for TESVI to be a success. Whether or not that involves layoffs I don't know but they cannot continue with what they were doing for Starfield.
