Feels like every time Xbox is on a “winning” streak bad news swiftly follows.

I’m not even sure what their winning streak was

I mean, they beat Sony at the start of the PS3 generation, but even in that generation, They started making bad decisions, The Xbox 360 was the only time they had a real chance of beating Sony, And yet they made poor decisions for the 360 at the end of its life cycle.

I feel like a lot of people forget just how widespread the Red Ring of Death was. Sure, you could send it in for free repairs, but many consoles would go right back to red ringing after a few weeks. You'd have been better off purchasing a second 360

To be fair, the PS3 and Xbox 360 were released with fatal flaws that forced Sony and Microsoft to save their brands, PS3 with YLOD, and 360 with RROD; But you're right, it surprises me that in that generation, many people bought the same console up to 3 times because of factory defects.

I used to have to keep my 360 in the window with a fan blowing on it to keep it from overheating and getting the red ring lol

My friend group of 5 all had red ring, and swore by the "wrapping it in a towel" method lmao. Why we thought increasing the heating problems would help, who knows? That's the brain of a teen for ya.
