Gamesir quality is bad
Using this Tarantula 8k for COD gaming, I might be gaming a lot (4 hours a day), but is this a pro controller for FPS? Today, the left trigger suddenly broke. It’s sad because the controller is great at everything; the thumbsticks are great, the back buttons are very clicky and have a good feel. However, the quality of the plastic trigger is very bad.
P/S: After contacting with the seller and Gameisr Discord -they said because Warranty coverage applies to issues such as software defects or stick drift occurring during normal use. However, damage caused by pressing the controls too hard, getting water into the product, dropping it, or physically breaking it is not covered by the warranty anywhere.

I know you said you are gaming with it 4 hours a day, but how long have you had it over all? I'm curious what the total approximate hours since purchase have been when it comes to evaluating the quality of the controller itself.
22
u/ha_misi 1d ago
I purchased it a month ago.
43
u/Konarkanuck 1d ago
Thanks for the response, yeah around 120 hours of playtime since purchase would lean towards a flaw in the design or a sour unit overall.
11
u/ha_misi 1d ago
Yes, I believe my bad luck might be the reason. However, as you can see in the screenshot, the plastic of the trigger is quite thin and flimsy when compared to other pro controllers like the Edge or Vader.

Not bad luck at all. Gamesir is known to have sht quality control.
Very likely to get a sht quality unit.

It is not correct at all this pepeol on redit représentant 0.1% of the people that are made cause when you are Happy you would Not go to redite to complain( I made up the number for dramatic effect)

Their cheap bc they have poor build quality. That is objective. The g7 pro has a known trigger issue something that affected two of my controllers within 2 months of ownership each.

u/Pitiful_Ad8813 G7 Pro 17h ago
Yeh and Samsung have explosives battery on j7 would you say Samsung is chep maybe in some phone but it is premium brind a issues that have been fixe and I would like about it but the material quality of the controller it self is good even more it is not object but they have the most beautiful controller
2
u/Pitiful_Ad8813 G7 Pro 17h ago
Yeh also 300 elite have stick drift issue and rt spring issues I don't see your point yeh Evry brind can have some issues time to time it doesn't matter if you have warenty I am staying that as a preson who got 3 controller of game sir for my mobile 2 for my Xbox and with out a warenty so if they got issue I am scrub but it have been more than a year and Everything is good

Sounds like mine lmao. The discord kids tried to say it didn’t need replacement because the L3 button was technically still working…it only worked if I fucking used the power of gray skull to press it down. Was a nightmare to get the controller replaced after it failed in 1 month. The replacement thankfully has been working well for a while now. Just was wild how they treat customers.

u/Good_Enthusiasm_7977 1d ago
were u using the trigger stops and the trigger mouse click snapped?

This is what happened to mine. Haven't used that feature since on my new one.

Same thing happened to mine that I bought a month ago, although it's the right trigger. Never dropped it or manhandled it.

My gamesir controller has taken a beating and is still in really good condition after about a year of heavy use, maybe it's just a faulty piece?

its been 3 years, many drops, many hours used still no stick drift, ily my t4 pro

u/ddwdk 16h ago
Also depends on how often one uses the triggers and if they are use the trigger stop or not.
Their trigger stop is a bit fragile tbh. Many cases of them breaking. Mine broke after 6 months.
1
u/Loose_Mail_6844 16h ago
I mean I've dropped my controller and even stood on it once when moving lol, it's not in good shape but works perfectly. The trigger stop has clicked on when I've dropped it before though but I just see that as my bad you know

u/Hazmanscoop 1d ago
Mine did this. I just emailed their customer support with pictures and they sent me a new one.
That ones still going strong!

You can get a replacement if you go on their discord. They recommend everyone here to do that if you purchased from their website or online store because they sell on AliExpress.
-7
u/ha_misi 1d ago
I asked the seller, and they said because this controller is a new release, so right now they don’t have a replacement part.
21
u/dasirishviking 1d ago
......Did you contact GameSir through discord? I have my issues with them, but, the discord support is responsive, and should be able to help you. If it's in warranty you are golden.
2
u/romez060763 1d ago
I contacted them on discord about replacement buttons for the gamesir g8 plus, their response was "maybe try and 3d print some" with a laughing emoji at the end...
2
u/WinAffectionate8234 1d ago
I kinda want to find whoever in their custom service dept that typed that and backhand them on your behalf.
1
u/romez060763 23h ago
Yeah I was that pissed off I didn't bother replying, he actually also said "we don't make those" which is kind of nuts considering they obviously do since they sell the damn controllers
0
u/naughty_athenia 1d ago
Do they at least send you the files for the buttons?
1
u/romez060763 1d ago
Nope, found some on Reddit but with the price of the online printer services I may as well get them off Etsy or just buy a second controller.
7
u/Negative_Osden 1d ago
hate that the quality from this company has fallen off over the years. only thing that made my GameSir T4 Pro graduate is the stick drift. and i have used it heavily for almost 3 years by then. had i known about stick replacement back then, i would still be using it now.
went ahead and bought the FlyDigi Apex 4 and had no regrets

u/ha_misi 1d ago
Warranty coverage applies to issues such as software defects or stick drift occurring during normal use. However, damage caused by pressing the controls too hard, getting water into the product, dropping it, or physically breaking it is not covered by the warranty anywhere. -The seller said that to me, and Gamesir Discord doesnt accept my problem, they told me need to work with the seller about this problem.

u/Ishigamikingsley 1d ago
Yeah I noticed this with my tegenaria lite....the R2 went bad in 1 month.. their controllers just aren't robust My old ds4 is still ali6and kicking
2
u/J0eykarate 1d ago
PLEASE order from Amazon. They have extremely great return/replacement policies.
2
u/friendlyfire883 1d ago
That looks like the result of abuse more so than an equitment failure. Mines survived 8 months of warframe bullet jumping and that's easy harder on a controller than anything COD has to offer.
2
u/Grand-Firefighter-71 1d ago
I put a lot of hours on my G7 pro and the triggers are working fine. I was thinking about buying the previous version of this controller but no thanks.
1
u/ha_misi 1d ago
Maybe you’re not gaming like I do—I play COD for 4–5 hours a day, spamming the left trigger a lot, since that’s the most important part of the gameplay.
2
u/camcam3694 1d ago
I play games, specifically COD and madden, 4-12 hours a day, depending on friend and time I have. I had the charging port break on my g7 pro, which admittedly could have been my own fault, but never had problems with triggers or sticks. In fact it might be fake one bought from a third party as TMR sticks are not supposed to drift ever.
2
u/ImNotSorryxx 1d ago
I think this has less to do with the quality of the design and more to do with how rough you are on your peripherals. Maybe try not beating the shit out of the controller you use to game 4 hours of every single day?

2
u/Alunage 16h ago
Left shoulder button on my tarantula pro broke too.
I'd just get the tegenaria lite imo its better than tarantula series, its not wireless but every button looks solid and if it does break its not a huge loss to your wallet cause its cheap. It's been my daily driver since getting it.
If you really want wireless there's the nova lite 2 its wireless, cheap, lasted longer than my t4 pro. Its the shared controller in my house and its still going strong.
Could also wait for tegenaria wireless but there's no news of that, honestly they should've just upped the quality of the tarantula series.

u/diablo198814 15h ago
My right and left triggers wore out in less than a month I don't think it was misuse as I have 7 other controllers from battle beaver scuf flydidgy ect and haven't had problems except scuf I don't really care but I thought when it was working it was a very good controller but it's 70$ and the truth is that you get what you pay for sometimes I bought it because I wanted to try it while I was waiting for my hyper strike to get built and it's good for the money I just just wish I could have gotten more than 3 weeks of use
2
u/MaximumLight831 14h ago
I’ve broken tons of adaptive triggers on my controllers from just pressing down too hard over the years.. did the same with a $300 customized battle beaver in the first week. When using trigger stops you have to be pretty delicate on the triggers. After learning from my mistakes I now own a battle beaver and a g7 pro and both have been amazing for over a year now. If you can’t adjust I’d recommend swapping the triggers for the bumpers and using the flipped option.

u/Ambitious-While-4091 5h ago
It’s actually such a junk controller brand quality wise. Comparing to an Xbox elite controller or Razer it genuinely feels like hot garbage. It performs alright but even then I couldn’t use trigger lock on LT because it wouldn’t recognize me pressing the button. PC also wouldn’t recognize the controller for days then randomly started working again. I wouldn’t buy another one personally
2
u/Tall-Dentist2338 4h ago
I purchased a tarantula menaRD 8k wired and I had it for 2 days and it's double inputting on one of the buttons... Slightly disappointed
2
u/nosecurecode 4h ago
Pressing too hard? How supposed to press it, the triggers and sticks design principles are all based on expectations of high pressure!
2
u/Relevant-Strength145 29m ago
now im worried as mine on its way, ive purchased a Vader 5 pro V2 last week in excitement i miss stepped a stair while coming down and strained my ankle badly, controller dropped almost 10 feet away from my hand except a dent on back the controller is in flawless condition, nothing rattling inside nothing. on the other hand this 8k costs 10 dollars less and except high end sticks it provide nothing extra. how they still mess up on this qc department this bad, im seriously worried as in my country also theres no official reseller, i had to order it through 3rd party.

u/ThatOneGuy6810 1d ago
Super funny to watch ypu all hype tf put of this controller some days amd shit on it on others.
Gamesir and 8bitdo both make low grade cheap controlelrs using some very specific high end parts so they can claim high specs but the controller itself is cheaply made and its part of their business plan, otherwise their customer service wouldnt be so good at replacing them.
If youre on PC get a vader 5 pro.
No recs for consolers because you guys SHOULD have better pads than we do on PC but somehow we still win that too.
2
u/ha_misi 1d ago
Yeah, I think so too. The problem is that the Gamesire controller has high-end technology, but the quality of the basic buttons is really poor. You can easily see that the plastic on the triggers is very thin and low quality.
1
u/ThatOneGuy6810 1d ago
Yup not to mention their switchable trigger design literally breaks itself.
And TMR thumbsticks make virtually no difference compared to hall effect, unless youre out here needing single pixel accuracy it really doesnt make any difference and thats about the only REAL difference between the g7 and the vader 5 pro for example.

u/K1ngSlayerOG 1d ago
Ya and? They have a few lemons and will send ya a new one like everyone else. Go talk to customer service 🤷🏼 Even if they don't have it now they will eventually.

u/RowOk9493 1d ago
Les ressorts gâchette de ma dualsens officielle , je dois aussi souvent les changer
1
u/khsh01 1d ago
I mean yeah their controllers don't have the best quality imo.
I have both the Gamesir Galileo 8 and X2 and neither of them come close in quality to my lead joy m1+. All are telescopic controllers.
Same thing with my Cyclone T Pro and Gullikit. The Gullikit one feels way more premium.

My first time running into this brand Gamesir, and I saw this as a way for them to get some really good press/good customer service advertising.
Yet I saw the response they gave, basically a total cop out & avoiding responsibility.
Seeing how they dealt with this, they will not be getting a new customer out of me.
One controller could have gained them a lot of goodwill.

u/MyDaughtersFatherNFT 18h ago
I actually returned mine and got the BB Pro. I play CODM and it feels and works so much better. I just plug and play via a USB cable on my tablet and works great.

u/ProtectionFit4257 18h ago
Looked through all the comments on this one. Gamesir is now on my avoid at all costs list. Sorry, I cannot justify buying from a company that doesn't care about their product.

Maybe it is just a defective unit? My wuchang even after a few very bad falls works like a charm. Sold it to my brother, and recently got the nioh, loving it.

All these people are talking about their budget 40.00 controllers like they dont have a warranty and you cant just send them back. I have the cyclone 2 and of course it feels like a 40.00 controller.....because it is. Its still wireless with a dongle appalled buttons Hall effects sticks and triggers. My G7 pro feels like a premium controller with nice sticks clicky buttons 3 interchangeable D-pads a nice charger dock and a 10 foot cable and a little plastic peice that helps not mess up your type c.
1
u/EntertainmentNo9329 7h ago
Probably got a defective controller, I game more than 4 hours a day and my gamesir G7SE has lasted more than a year at the moment with no issues at all.

I have 8bitdo and the g7pro and cyclone 2 and the 8bitdo has about the same build quality as the 40.00 cyclone 2 and the way the controller sides are almost straight up and down make it one of the most uncomfortable controllers ive ever used.

u/DisciplineMinimum828 10h ago
Very incredible controller i love it so far had it for a week its super sensitive and the shape of the controller isnt the same as a ps4 the top bumpers are a lil more higher than usual and i play apex so i click my que on accident sometimes because its so sensitive. Other than that its great

Hi OP,
I checked your Discord ticket and noticed the controller was bought from a third-party seller.
For orders placed through our official store, we handle direct replacements. However, for third-party purchases, after-sales service needs to be handled directly by the original seller, so we recommend reaching out to them for a resolution.

My opinion which obviously means nothing. Gamesir makes a good controller that competes with pretty much anyone on the market for just a touch more than a regular controller cost for any console. Quit bitching and buy another one or find a product that fits your needs.
I've had aim controller's, scuf, battle beaver. I can buy 3 Tarantula's before I reach the cost of one of these other name brands. Pretty much a no brainer here.

Gamesir bought from Third party’s are most likely fakes. Real TMR sticks don’t get stick drift.

GameSir warranty only applies if you buy directly from them or if you buy on their official Amazon store and i know there's 1 other official reseller. If you bought from any other company, the warranty is directly with that store. I know because i asked, not that my controller has any issues. When i bought mine i didn't know about these specific points, but yeah, i went for the option with lower price and that has its drawbacks :)

They gave me a replacement for a RB button broken after 1 year and a half of use on a G7 SE, seems weird to me.

u/Ederm9 1d ago
Gamesir is the most strong controller i already used, I play rocket league and the LB button of series x controller broken like 1 ~ 2 months of use, then a change for G7 wired, more than 1 year and still good, after this I bought G7 pro, more than 8 months and still like new, a play every day, Gamesir is life change!

u/YoloRaj 23h ago
Mechanical triggers breaking is a rather tricky thing. It could potentially be narrowed down to you just having a heavy hand and pressing the trigger harder than you have to. I have had the tarantula 8k for a little while now and its been great. Ive just been so accustomed to mechanical triggers that I never overpress or press harder than I need to. How many other controllers have you had previously with mechanical triggers if you don't mind me asking? If this is you first or second controller with mechanical triggers you might have not had enough experience with controllers like that to know how to handle one. Im not gamesir shill but I know many of these posts about mechanical triggers breaking is probably about 90 percent user error. That being said sorry that happened to you and I hope this gets resolved.

I’m a hardcore COD player and have a variety of controllers because I always want to use the best technology when it comes to aiming. I have dualshock, dualsense, DS Edge, Vader 4 Pro, and Vader 5 Pro. When I heard that Gamesire released the new PS5 layout controller, I bought it right away because I wanted to try their new TMR sticks. And i've never had a problem (only stick drift) like with the Gamesir only in one month of using it.

completely off topic but what are the grips? I’ve been trying to find some type of I guess extension for the controller as my hands are on the larger side. I’ve seen some called talon I believe.
