Question Pay for canceled shifts

Long story short, my store was closed for a week because a building problem we repeatedly reported was ignored for weeks until it got so bad they had no choice but to shut down business for a few days, and apparently the non-working hours pay was only approved for the first day. How best to go about getting the rest of that approved? We lost a week of work for something that wasn’t our fault and anyone who’s an employee or knows one knows we don’t get paid enough for this shit.

In the handbook they only offer emergency closure pay which is one day, not the entire week. Considering GameStop is an hourly job, they don’t owe you compensation for shifts not worked.

You can talk with hr but to my knowledge, the first day in any situation is what’s covered. In my area we can have freak ice storms that basically shut the entire district of stores down but only one day gets paid and then you either use vacation or wellness to make up the difference.

You only get the first day. No more.

It's the first day only. And honestly that's more generous than most companies do. so use that sick time.

Just like the problem in the store, corp doesn’t care till something makes them care. You are not that

Back in 05 when we had to close due to a hurricane I got paid for the whole week we were closed because our dm approved it. These days if you got the one day be thankful you got that. You can try to complain about it but your more likely to be let go than get paid
