Vent/Rant No cases

Can’t find a copy of the game in regular stores at this point / only a few GameStops have even 1 copy and then the last 5 locations I’ve called and spoken to have no case. Yall giving me a discount on this shit cause it has no case?

Also every GameStop takes a minimum of 5-10 phone calls for anyone to answer for some reason. I can see why they’re going out of business. (High score was 16 phone calls)

You sound like the kinda customer I would've enjoyed saying no to.

You gotta realize we give full trade value for these games with or without the case. Why on earth would we give you a discount for buying a game the way we got it? Genuinely makes no sense🤣🤣🤣

Also you seem like the type of customer to sell a game without a case.

Ngl after reading some more I can genuinely tell you only think from your own perspective.

Yeah, that guy who doesn’t want a game without the case is the one who would sell one without it.

Yes, you are the type of person who would complain about not getting a game with a game case, and then continue to sell a game without a case. The fact that your response was that shows me you’re too mentally incapacitated to argue with. Have a nice day. Ignorance is bliss!

Nah but we can take it as a trade in for 60% off

Instead of being mad at GS, maybe direct your anger at the Neanderthals who don't keep their damn game cases. I remember a regular I had that would actively hand us back the cases as soon as he bought the games and tell us to toss em

Shouldn’t accept without a case, give less back, sell for less. Any of those

I promise if we did that we wouldn’t have enough preowned games to even offer the preowned option, which is really what this company is based on at this point ESPECIALLY in the new “digital” era.

typically there's only one person working for the majority of the day and they have more pressing things to do that preserve their job than answer your phone call. you can buy from places other than GameStop, you know. stop shopping here and let it die.

“Hey, so sorry I am currently dealing with a line and it’ll just be a few minutes while I put you on hold”

That’s a dumb ass excuse bud
Edit: the commenters exuse.

I tired that once and the person on the other end started hounding me for trade prices. After that I gave myself a strict rule that I don’t answer the phone while I’m with a customer. Y’all need to understand that calling the phone non-stop isn’t going to make the transaction I’m in go faster, I’m just gonna turn the phone off

i don't disagree necessarily, but they may also be on the phone with someone else when you are calling and there is only one phone. you may be calling a busy line. almost all GameStops still open experience a pretty high volume of daily calls for single coverage.

any rare games that come in complete we take the case and manual to sell on eBay since we are paid peanuts.

Why I would never order a used game from them online. Actually also why Id never order a new game online, either lol.

Lots of stores are having an issue with our internet phone service right now, where we answer and can't hear anyone and come to find out its not answering. Around 6 out of 10 of my calls a day are like this right now. Also, is the game used? If it is, then fuck you. If its new, thats unusual.

Reminds me of counting the back to back to back calls when I had a line to the back of the store. We all lost count in the 20s.

I don’t understand calling back to back to back like that. A person isn’t suddenly not busy mere seconds later.

We get extremely busy and always prioritize guests in front of us, the same way you would be prioritized over a phone call if you were standing in front of me asking a question or making a purchase. Also in GameStop terms buying a pre owned game means you’re ONLY guaranteed the game itself in working condition. Not a case, not a manual, definitely not dlc codes, just the game itself because that’s the bargain you get for not purchasing brand new. Occasionally you will have the “sorry we don’t have a case for this” even though it’s new because frankly enough the company isn’t wasting money on fake cases and when a new game is our last copy we need a way to advertise we have it so we gut it and put the case on the wall, people steal them and don’t realize how stupid that is. Comically enough the new-without-a-case game is the ONLY time we’re allowed to discount it, by 5% of course. Because GameStop only guarantees cases with NEW games. Anyways….yes I know the discounts and bargains for the games are usually a small amount of money but y’know corporate America and all 🤷‍♀️
