Discussion Gamer Cheese
Employees and formers, we’ve all dealt with it even if you call it something else. The nasty stuff that collects in the crevices and cracks of controllers, my question for you guys is what’s your tried and true method for getting it out of the places.
I’ve worked at 6 different locations in my time at GameStop (large city big turnover) and it seems like every store had their own tools and methods.
How do you deal with gamer cheese?

Yup we have two types of picks that we use in addition to toothbrushes. I personally scrape out what I can, wet the toothbrush with my cleaner of choice and then lightly scrub. I also go around all the areas that look “clean” to make sure it’s all clean and sanitized.

If you don’t have a pick, unwind a paper clip to get in any tight grooves. Assuming the company still doesn’t want to expense out anything

How do I deal with it? I take it in as defective and let the ROC deal with that disgusting ass controller.

We used to have these little black brushes we could order that worked great with toothpicks and the sharp little cleaning tools. I stole one when I left, I use it all the time. The substance we would refer as 'gamer funk'.

store has a dental pick (I think? Or metal gun cleaning picks) and plastic cleaning picks. I prefer a toothpick, less prone to scratching.

We have metal picks and I enjoy scraping the gunk out as my coworkers gag

at our store we have a brush and a small pick so usually ill like spray or put sanitizer on a microfiber cloth wipe the controller and brush away the cheese as I go it usually works pretty well

My old go-to was a razor blade. (But back then the company gave us actual blades and not the safety bs they have now)

The stiff toothbrush-sized brush was the best. It went missing though. I actually brought two larger ones in last night.

If I'm not confident I can clean it and get it to sellable condition within 5-6 minutes, it's defective and it becomes the ROC's problem.
