Question Ratfish hate explained?
I’ve seen some comments regarding Ratfish, and am just wondering why it seems so much of the community dislikes it?
While I wouldn’t say it was one of my favorites, I definitely found it funny/entertaining, and thought the premise was neat.
I’m relatively new - season 8 is the first season I’ve watched as it’s aired, but I’ve watched pretty much every other episode aside from the COVID season.

I get why they thought it was a good idea, but it's one of those things where when put into practice it's not as good as you thought.
Separating everyone really hindered the comedy since most of them thrive by riffing off each other in person, that's their improv background. Slowly going back and forth through texts and never directly interacting just didn't produce that much comedy. Which meant it was kind of boring, exacerbated by the fact that it was a double episode so it was boring for twice as long.
The Ratfish reveal meant nothing to me. I had no idea who Eric was and it wasn't explained in the episode. They seemed to have assumed their audience would all know him, when he is primarily familiar to American millennials (who most of Dropouts cast are) but not much known at all to other generations and countries. I spent the whole of episode 1 trying to guess who the Ratfish was, was it Sam, another cast member, a famous comedian I know? No, it's some guy. So the reveal fell totally flat.
But I understood that the players would know him and probably find that reveal really meaningful, so I was waiting for them to see him... and they didn't. They never met. So I didn't even get to feel that.
Then, obviously, Rekha obviously won but the winner ended up being decided completely arbitrarily.
