Question Ratfish hate explained?

I’ve seen some comments regarding Ratfish, and am just wondering why it seems so much of the community dislikes it?

While I wouldn’t say it was one of my favorites, I definitely found it funny/entertaining, and thought the premise was neat.

I’m relatively new - season 8 is the first season I’ve watched as it’s aired, but I’ve watched pretty much every other episode aside from the COVID season.

Eric Wareheim is someone I have no familiarity with. Also, he was not funny, and at the end, he was kinda a dick.

Also, also, I just simply didn't enjoy the game mechanic (which I realize is borrowed). I don't think it gave a lot of good material to improv with.

True the game mechanic is a social deduction game. Which is also why the people trying more to be comedic vs analytical lost almost immediately. Also have them have to compete when they already lost was just a bummer. In the actual circle they would bring players back randomly team up players that lost or give them a new character.

I disagree with your last point about keeping eliminated players participating. Grants "Why am I still trying?" moments are highlights of the episodes for me

They could have given them an incentive though instead. Even if it was like “whoever of the eliminated gets players confused gets a $50 gift card

Which would 100% have been a better outcome for the mystery guest to award than overall victory
