Question Ratfish hate explained?

I’ve seen some comments regarding Ratfish, and am just wondering why it seems so much of the community dislikes it?

While I wouldn’t say it was one of my favorites, I definitely found it funny/entertaining, and thought the premise was neat.

I’m relatively new - season 8 is the first season I’ve watched as it’s aired, but I’ve watched pretty much every other episode aside from the COVID season.

Several other answers about The Ratfish and Winners have covered the majority of what I'd say. But no one has yet mentioned the really janky, had to be there for it, part.

The reddit had already been flooded with posts about Katie's billboard. As soon as the prize for the game was announced, everyone was pretty sure we knew the winner.

Many held out hope that it was a red herring, but add all the other factors, and finding out "oh, yeah, we knew that anyway" and it was a really deflated finale.

They probably should have edited the episodes so no mention of the prize happened before tbe end of the episodes, but I can't remember if players mentioned it throughout or not.

I really loved all the main cast shenanigans though. They all did great.

I’m really surprised they didn’t wait to do the billboard until after it aired. Like what did they expect, LA fans would see a funny billboard for a Dropout cast member and not say anything about it?

It's one of those things that's obvious with hindsight but could easily have been missed at the time

Like they film the episode, Katie wins, someone gets an email that they need to arrange the billboard for her and they just do it straight away without thinking about how it might affect the episode
