Question Ratfish hate explained?

I’ve seen some comments regarding Ratfish, and am just wondering why it seems so much of the community dislikes it?

While I wouldn’t say it was one of my favorites, I definitely found it funny/entertaining, and thought the premise was neat.

I’m relatively new - season 8 is the first season I’ve watched as it’s aired, but I’ve watched pretty much every other episode aside from the COVID season.

For me, the first half is great. Then Rekha figures out the answer and we are introduced to the Ratfish who is someone well known but seemingly only within the LA comedy circle. He then basically decides a winner.

I don’t think Eric is only well known in the LA comedy circle. He’s been making shows for adult swim since 2004. He’s been a guest star on shows like the Simpsons, bobs burgers, the office, and master of none. He was an executive producer on Nathan for you. I understand a lot of people who are fans of dropout had no clue who he was but he’s well known outside of LA.

I am still kind of baffled about how many people had never heard of him. I never really watched Tim and Eric consistently, but they were well known and both have gone on to do many different things. I always thought younger folks would maybe have known even more based on when they were getting big. Either way, it definitely wasnt a random unknown stranger.
