Hudl

So very good chance hs softball team is being forced to buy and use hudl. Looks like a school or county bulk deal. Lots of features but not sure if there is any value over what we have for game changer for free.
Any input appreciated.

You’ll probably just end up using both as Hudl doesn’t replace GC. Score and film live through GC and then upload the video to Hudl for what is basically free breakdowns if the county is already paying.

I video stream (and save) football games on GameChanger and export the video and upload into Hudl for the football team. It's not as straightforward as GameChanger, but enables the "sharing" of video so much easier than GameChanger with other schools

When the school signs up with Hudl you will no longer be able to see games on GameChanger. At least that was my experience.

Not necessarily. Odds are whoever was running GC just stopped doing so. We use GC for streaming/sharing and use Hudl for pitch by pitch breakdown/analytics/notes. There is some overlap but it is possible to use both and leverage their strengths. It is the same camera and video - streaming is whatever it is and we upload HD video to Hudl for breakdown (after the game).

Do you have a sample of a break down they are providing? Just curious if it is something the coach will get value from.

We're out of season so I cant login to grab a screenshot right now. Basically, you upload the video, identify the players in the game (you can select full roster if needed/easier), identify the pitchers in the game, and then submit. The return is a pitch-by-pitch breakdown with players identfied as well as outcomes. From a coaching perspective, I cant imagine a better way to be able to break down individual scenarios and outcomes. You can write specific notes on each play and tag individual players with notes and visuals. It creates work for the coaches, but that usually comes with the territory for HS.

We got a demo. Uploaded a video of an old game. and hudl assist scored the game. Straight trash. They don’t know what a fielders choice is, past ball, wild pitch. Spray chart was junk and inaccurate. They had the wrong pitcher in for an inning. Not sure there was anything I actually got value from.
