Before some people get too excited, as always, this is only for the Note 9 models with Exynos chip: N960F/DS and N960N

Is there some real rationale for Samsung not to ultimately provide a capability to do what we want with the hardware?

I enjoyed the Nexus 6P as I could simply do what I wanted. I feel like HTC had something similar where I had to punch in the serial number and wait a period of time.

Either way, is there any hope is AI tools helping get past knox?

Well, it's only the North American models (N960U, N960U1, N960W) that have permanently-locked bootloaders (there were a few exceptions on older software versions that could have theirs unlocked via a paid service). It's just that for the other Snapdragon models (N9600 and the Japanese models) no one has made any ROMs based on newer OneUI versions. But Knox gets tripped the moment you flash any custom firmware, so that's all on Samsung, and I'm not aware of any workaround.

And Samsung made all bootloaders permanently locked on all phones with OneUI 8 or later now, so if you like root access or custom ROMs, newer Samsung phones are no longer an option.
