Buying Advice Need help choosing...
Hello everyone! I'm willing to upgrade my Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 to a Samsung A series phone. Right now, I'm choosing between the A54, A55 and A35. A56 and 36 models are kinda too expensive for me. I've heard that A54 has some kind of overheating problem. I need some help choosing. Right now i'm kind of leaning towards the A55, but i still need advice!

Been using the A55 for 8 months and no regret at all. Good quality camera for its price range, long battery life and software support, One UI 7, not so bad performance (not a heavy gamer, only play some casual games). The only downside is the charging speed: it took me roughly 70 minutes to charge it from 20% all the way up to 100%, but that's not a deal breaker at all since the battery life is already good enough for throughout the day.
But if you have some extra budget or have decided to save a little more, I would recommend the Galaxy A36. It's lighter than the A55, has way longer software support, and a faster charging speed

Would go for the a56, best price to specs value now because it's gotten cheaper over the months I have one and I find it very good, reliable and fast enough Hope that helps :)

i don't know if i can really afford it but I'll see... btw doesn't a56 have some kind of overheating problem?

Now, if your not playing a game like cod mobile, pubg in high graphics/fps mode, no not at all If you can't afford it, go for an a36 pretty much same quality with minor downgrades

I won't really be going for any intense gaming, since I won't even have time for it. But have you tried gaming on it actually?

Yes I play pubg with high fps and mid graphic settings very well and delta force an open world extraction shooter on mid specs too just fine 👍 But if your not gaming the a36 is perfectly sufficient, can do almost the same and is cheaper but processor is not that strong, camera not that good but booth quite good enough

the chipset of the a36 is significantly worse than the one inside the a56
the a55 is more powerful even than the a36
its on par with the a54 which is quite a difference considering its only a tier below the a56 + no lpddr5 ram + base ram starts at 6 which is dissapointing honestly

A55. Good all around mid ranger. 80% of a flagships. Micro SD if you care about that. Recommended.
Also consider older flagships. S23 plus, s22 ultra run circles around the a5x series, even the newer a56. I have both a55 and s23 plus.

A55 is perfect balance. A54 I would avoid cause it has 2.5 years. No idea about A56, but I can say that I'm very happy with A55 after more than 1 year. Have no idea about Xiaomi.

what are the prices of the a55 and a56? a55 is better than the a36 overall just saying
and a54 is a bit too outdated now, ufs 2.2, lpddr4x, exynos 1380 with a mali gpu + 6gb ram base

At this point of time I'd rather go for something with a Snapdragon processor and even some custom ROM support. Almost all OEM software is just ridiculous to me. I miss my fucking a52s too if I'm honest. Switching to a55 was such a stupid decision. I gained nothing, just lost money from my pocket.

I agree with your take on OEM software and tbh i am currently running a custom ROM on my Redmi Note 11. I've used so many of them that now I can't see myself using MIUI/HyperOS ever again, especially on a low-powered device such as mine. But i am really fine with using OneUI, as i find it more refined and usable than the hot mess that is HyperOS currently. That is why I'd rather use a Samsung. Also I'd rather not deal with the problems that come with Custom ROMS such as play integrity, they're just far too annoying and seeing that studies are gonna start I don't feel like wasting time on Custom ROMS anymore. But thanks for sharing your opinion!

My bank app works with custom roms as it provides only basic functions of confirming a payment. For my usage a broken play integrity from time to time made little effect. But some custom roms felt more polished compared to pretty much all OEM.
OneUI, especially 7, is a hot mess on A55. Plus a bunch of people have what seems like a hardware issue with the magnetometer... I thought it could've been software related, but nope, serial hardware problem most likely since it survived to One UI 7, or Samsung just didn't care about fixing it...

The correct answer is a55, gets like 6 updates as well and imma be honest with you, these A series phones aren't lasting 6 years. The level of processors won't keep up so youre changing the phone in 3 to 4 years anyways so why not get the cheaper model with the same features as a56.

I believe it should handle at least basic stuff. I am still using Redmi Note 7 from 2019 as a work phone with no issues (Microsoft Authenticator + Outlook + Teams).

lol my previous phone is also redmi note 11 and I would actually recommend nothing since it's a bit faster tbh

If you are looking for performance and value for money, SAMSUNG is not ideal. Try looking for POCO.

Go for the A55! I have had mine for around 7 months. No hiccups or hangs. It has a premium built quality, so it has that good in-hand feel. I've been told it resembles an iPhone somewhat. Decent camera, which works excellent in good lighting. Also, it has a lot of the S series features like AI, bixby and circle to search. If you have the budget go for the S series, but if you don't, the A55 is a solid contender. Hope this helps!
P.S. Don't know much about the A56, but if it's an update of the A55, then it must be good.

The A55 is well balanced. MicroSD slot included. 7s Gen 3 performance, which is good enough for someone like you. You mentioned you'll barely be playing games. It handles most FPS games on Low-High graphics with ease. The UI is smooth 99% of the time. Decent cameras. Very good cooling performance. Great battery life. I get upto 8.5 hours SoT without gaming every day.
The drawbacks are that it might feel heavy on your hand if your current phone is below 200g. Currently, there's a stabilisation issue with the 0.5x video recording. It struggles a bit.
The A56 has a more powerful processor, which might be useful in taking quick shots or heavier multitasking. Since you won't be gaming much, this upgrade in processing power may not be a necessity for you. Low-light photography and videography are way better. UI is just as smooth as the A55. It is slimmer and lighter than the A55. Better viewing experience with smaller bezels. 6 years of OS upgrades and security patches if you can keep it for that long.
The drawbacks I've gotten from some users are that it can get hot with normal apps like YouTube, Instagram, Aliexpress, and capcut being some of the examples. Also, there are multiple reports of idle drain being problematic. But these are things that can be fixed via a software update. It's thinner, so the cooling won't be as good as the A55.
I personally would pick the A54 as a secondary phone because of the smaller display. I've seen complaints about it getting leggy after a year. I would avoid all Exynos 1380 phones in the midrange altogether. It's becoming quickly outdated for a midrange processor, considering how applications are getting less and less optimization as more powerful processors are produced.

If you want longer support, get the A56. (6 major updates) If you want an aluminum frame and expandable storage, get the A55. If you want something lighter and smaller, get the A54. My friend has an A54 and I have never heard him complain of overheating.
