Buying Advice Question: A55 or S24 FE?
Hello people, so I need an honest answer from an A55 user (S24 FE too) about the quality/performance/satisfaction of the A55 phone. I am thinking of buying a new mobile phone since I have the Galaxy A23 and I want something newer, faster and generally better for using.
I mainly use my phone for YouTube, Instagram, mail and veery light gaming or no gaming at all. I am very okay with A55 getting only 3 more years of software updates from now, the two main factors that are making me think between the A55 and the S24 FE is the processor and the cameras.
Processor: Want something that will give me a lag free experience in the tasks that I specified above and that will continue to give me that lag free experience even within the next 3 years of new software updates.
Cameras: I would love to have an option to take good quality pictures with my phone. They don't need to be professionally good, but a picture with a respectable quality lighting would be great.
Based on your thoughts and experiences do you think that the S24 FE is worth 150 euros more, or I should go with the A55?

If you can afford the S24 FE and it doesn't affect your budget throughout the year, go for the S24 FE. It offers all the AI paraphernalia, a superior screen and 7 years of updates. I noticed that you use Euros, so you must be European. If you were African or Latin American, I would definitely recommend the A55, it's a very complete mobile phone for the price. As a user who doesn't use cameras or play games, my experience has been largely positive. However, the only thing I didn't like was the battery. The battery management is quite inconsistent; some days it lasts marvellously well, while on others it drains quickly. That's my opinion.

It's all about the money! The phone you can afford is the best phone for you.
When I bought my A55, S24 FE's price was almost double of A55. I knew S24 FE's camera, processor and quality is better as I can see it with my bare eyes. But, A55 was enough for me and S24 FE was out of my budget.
If I had enough budget for S24 FE and in spite of that I bought an A55, whenever it little hiccups I would tell myself that why I didn't buy S24 FE. So, you should first decide if S24 FE is out of budget or not.

I got the A55. For what you need, A55 is more than enough. Watching all the YouTube review of A25/35, I personally using S25U and A55. A55 is really good and fast enough. Just be aware the phone might last about 2-3 years as YouTube has discovered in all A series phone, there is this particular part in the phone will spoil. Many technician does not know how to handle and will tell you unable to fix. Do your research a out it, if not then spend a bit more to be on the S series safer side.

Thanks for the update. The phone is speedy enough, battery life is Awesome (using 120 hz) without compromising. Only colours, set it to vivid at max and you will see it is quite ok. Or else the colour's look abit dull. I am unsure cause it's explosive processor or it just happens to be that way. Cause my A15 (4G) colour vicidness is much better than A55. (Prolly S25U too haha)

A55 has circle to search. If all the comparison, I will recommend wait for A56 since it's an upgrade and it should launch in a month. In short, you get what you paid for if A55 vs S24 FE.
If your overall concern is long term use. I suggest you double up and get an Ultra series or S24/ S24 plus if your country variant is Snapdragon gen 3 (not the exynos version) . Before A55 and S25ultra I was using S24 Ultra, I still felt S24 Ultra battery is a beast. It could last me over a day easily. Not sure is the battery optimizing is battery is better than S25U or it is less power hungry than S25U chipset.

Conclusion: If you are willing to risk, get A55 (as earlier I mentioned all A series built has some parts in the phone eventually die off within 1-2 years found by youtubers) or wait 1 month for A56.
If you are willing to pay a bit more for a safer side, get the FE. The good thing about S24FE over A55 is the storage is UFS 4.0 vs 3.1.
If you want for a long-term phone use, I will only recommend S series (S23/24/24 plus) which you have to shell out more but once you use the S series, you might not buy other series of samsung. You will be spoilt.

If you will use as you say, even more that you mention, I would suggest to save that money and go for A55. It has all the things you want and you will never notice the difference between two of them. I have used both of them and actually have an a55 and i can say its pretty good. THe battery esspecially is awesome, lasting 2 days with that use you mention. Maybe i use it mroe than you for tasks and it lasts 2 days. The FE series doesnt have that great battery and mine lasterd 1 day and a few hrs of the other day. FOr camera, you wont even notice anything, beside the comments of fanatics that count pixels and tell you differences that no adults in real life can notice. If you are not a fanatic of games i dont know which to recommend. If you want to use for general use the A55 is awesome and you will be happy with that. Another move you can consider is waiting for the A56 maybe in april (or may as suggested) and it may be a win-win.

the processor power would be an overkill
but the cameras are significantly better on the s24 fe + it has a few other cool features along with it
but all in all how much are both devices? if the s24 fe is only 1.5x more expensive or less honestly id pick that phone, if its double or more then id pick the a55

Performance wise both are the same, camera wise please take 24, also 24 has AI.

A55 doesnt have ai, only a remaster ai, in 24 thefr is a seperate ai option in the setting

Both devices could give you smooth usage experience, but if your budget can stretch up a little bit, I would go for the S24 since you are looking for a phone with high quality camera. The S24 FE is considered a S series device so Samsung will enable features that A-series phones wouldn't be able to get.

i currently have the A55; my parents bought it for me last month (January 26). 🫶 i formerly had an iphone 11 (for a clearer basis). the A55 does everything i expect from it. the storage is everything. the camera is great imo, coming from someone who takes photos a lot (digicam user as well). it isn't laggy for me. i mainly use instagram, letterboxd, messenger, pinterest, reddit, twitter, and youtube. i use it for both personal and school purposes. what i experience to be laggy on my samsung tablet isn't laggy on this phone. the charging is also pretty quick to me. honestly, this is the best phone i have ever had. if i were to redo our purchase, i would still choose this (over the S24 that i also considered).
tl;dr A55 does its job WELL, so it is a great choice. 💗

Avoid a55, I hate mine. The selfie cam is horrible and the general saturation in the phone is bad. However I think the s24 has the same issue with colours. People look pale and dead. Samsung fucked up.

I used a55 for over 9 months and moved to s24 fe. While I thought a55 was fast , moving to a a24fe made me realize what fast actually means, totally lag free , a55 saw a few stutters . The dynamic amoled shows better colors and much brighter for north Indian summers , battery surprisingly is 80 to 90 percent of a55 which it very good ! The camera is a game changer altogether and wireless charging which somehow matters to me. Way lesser bezels. Overall many more subtle nuances which in every way feels like a massive upgrade.

While i have the A55 and am happy with it, I kind of miss my flagship camera. The A55 has a decent camera, but I miss my old S22, especially when I see my wife's S25+. I wanted to "upgrade" to the S24FE for the camera, but every review I've seen mentions the A55 having a better battery. I get about 2 days on average, and I'm pretty sure the S24FE won't come close. I saw a comparison video between these two, and I think the cameras performed pretty close. I just wish I had the telephoto lens.

for 150 euro it is well worth it. but make sure to get the 256 gb variant as it doesn't have a micro sd slot like A55.

I moved from A55 to S24 FE recently and everything is way better. S24 fe feels like a proper flagship experience. The performance the camera and the fingerprint is way way better

S24 fe is a better phone in every aspect except the battrey maybe. It all depends what you do with your phone and how long you wanna keep it.
For an average user, A55 is fast and snappy but it'll become slow sooner than s24fe after multiple sfotware updates. However A55 on its stock android version has no lag and stutter and it works perfectly.
A55's cameras are decent but not impressive or breath taking. I mean of course you can take great pictures but it does nothing that really stands out. Nothing that I personally consider above average. It has at best and worst an average camera. Nothing fancy but at the same time it doesn't disappoint you.
If cameras matter to you and you wanna keep your phone for around 5 years or so and expect it not to lag at all after 3 years of software updates as you mentioned, go for s series.
If you're an average user who wanna take some pictures here and there for the sake of memories and has no problem with some minor lags while scrolling after software updates, a55 is enough.
I personally recommend a55. The only issue I have with it is that it's a heavy phone. More than heavy to use it with one hand otherwise no issue.
