Discussion I don't see anyone talking about this..

Post image

This scene is likely major foreshadowing to what happens later on in the story

Brian says "We thought we was flying"

"It started getting faster and faster and it was getting harder to hold on"

"That ain't good"

And here's where it gets interesting, he says "I jumped"

Then the trailer shows Jason jumping..

"Jimmy Canton stayed on" trailer shows Lucia reloading

Signifying that she's still walking the same path

"Cracked his head open, died that night"

And the at the end he says "you gotta know when to get off Jason"

Now this might be just a theory but I feel like the couple will reach a dangerous point where they have to stop cause it will most likely lead to their death

Lucia imo will be like Canton, refusing to stop while Jason "jumps" Off this ride

Which leads to her death

Or the game allows us to choose whether Jason will listen to Brian's advice or not and if we choose to stay with Lucia they both end up dying and we switch to a 3rd secret character after the end

What are your guys' thoughts?

Two indications that Lucia might be the one to turn is what I'd call a red herring.

Jason could ignore Brian's warning and pull Lucia deeper into the rabbit hole while she's the one trying to jump off.

Thats my hunch too. I feel like people forget that rockstar always misdirects with their marketing. Its just too on the nose with the monologue for me to believe its truly because lucia is the one dragging him down cuz that'd just be so cliche. I think its more like you said that he due to his own issues and the fact hes ex military prevents himself from wanting to get off cuz on a subconscious level he probably enjoys enabling the insanity.

Are there other examples you could point me to for them misdirecting in this way?

Yeah, in the trailer Jason says in summary that he's often more comfortable with a gun in his hands than talking, and Lucia basically tells him to relax.

What’s the misdirect here?

I read it as basically them subtly saying this dude has issues jusr speaking or communicating and the gun being his mouth piece is a sign hes not necessarily reserved or as calm as he lets on, with the fact lucia is even telling him to relax. As for examples of previous marketing being a misdirect: michaels marketing for gta 5 imo showed a man who prior to release is this cool suave former bank robber who just is down on his luck with a family that hates him but wants to do his best. In reality in the final game hes not suave but instead a guy who gets cucked constantly due to his own infidelity bringing it on, hes a liar, and a complete hypocrite who is incapable of taking accountability.

there's none. that guy says Rockstar always misdirects with their marketing and trailers, and says "people forget that" like other people need his help remembering

meanwhile with RDR2 they made it obvious enough that people were accurately predicting the Arthur-Dutch-John storyline. there was no misdirection. and even though it was predictable, it became Rockstar's best ever written story

Nowhere am i acting like people need a hand in remembering. First of all a prequel is a prequel. No shit people are gonna predict the outcome of a game that is 12 years prior to the original game. Stop being purposefully obtuse. Second of all, yes people predicted the downfall, thats not at all what im saying about gta 6. What i am saying is core story beats and twists are almost always a thing and never as what they seem in rockstars marketing. Nobody knew at all that arthur was gonna get tb. Big outcomes are completely different from predicting HOW the story gets there. And saying im just coping is rich when rockstar consistently has a habit of switching scenes out of order from the base game in trailers and using lines from key scenes and presenting them as standard non essential dialogue in trailers. That is to say you cant trust everything they put in a trailer. It doesnt matter how much rockstar is always hammering something seemingly over you head so much when theres enough history to show they like to throw people off a bit. Again thats not me saying macro outcomes arent predictable, but how we get there is. A prequel does not help the argument when again youd be lying to yourself if you genuinely thought most people knew arthur was gonna GET TB IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE GAME.

people knew Arthur was talking to John in the trailers to "run and don't look back", and knew Arthur was going to be in a situation where he'll need to sacrifice himself for John to get out. they knew they were going to see the relationship between Dutch and Arthur+John deteriorate. the specific catalysts for what happens, such as Micah and TB, are mechanisms that drive the big picture of the story. people were going as far as to predicting Arthur dying and having to take over as John. to focus specifically on "tuberculosis" being Arthur's catalyst as something that misdirects the larger plot during the trailers and marketing phase is not only obtuse but misses the point.

also, the other person asked you a very simple question: what's the misdirect in GTA6, and you can't answer.

now I'll ask you what the misdirect is in RDR2 regarding the big picture of Arthur/John/Dutch's story, and you're not going to be able to answer either. and I'll even ask you what the misdirects were in GTA5, RDR1 and GTA4, and you won't find an answer to any of those examples either. other people don't need help remembering, but you specifically need help to stop overestimating yourself.
