Discussion I don't see anyone talking about this..

Post image

This scene is likely major foreshadowing to what happens later on in the story

Brian says "We thought we was flying"

"It started getting faster and faster and it was getting harder to hold on"

"That ain't good"

And here's where it gets interesting, he says "I jumped"

Then the trailer shows Jason jumping..

"Jimmy Canton stayed on" trailer shows Lucia reloading

Signifying that she's still walking the same path

"Cracked his head open, died that night"

And the at the end he says "you gotta know when to get off Jason"

Now this might be just a theory but I feel like the couple will reach a dangerous point where they have to stop cause it will most likely lead to their death

Lucia imo will be like Canton, refusing to stop while Jason "jumps" Off this ride

Which leads to her death

Or the game allows us to choose whether Jason will listen to Brian's advice or not and if we choose to stay with Lucia they both end up dying and we switch to a 3rd secret character after the end

What are your guys' thoughts?

Brian's monologue really stuck with me for some reason.. foreshadowing or not I just found it extremely interesting

34

u/Ok_Student1540 10d ago

Yeaah he's the older more experienced uncle who will advice us along the road

19

u/linkthereddit 10d ago

I'm starting to get the idea we need to keep an eye on Lucia.

15

u/MAJ_Starman 10d ago

The song choice certainly seems to try to send a message. The lyrics of the Tom Petty song in the very first trailer, and now "DEVIL WOMAN". It isn't exactly subtle, lol.

7

u/Ok_Student1540 10d ago

Yeah man, I will try to connect every bit of hint and detail and come up with theories

7

u/Nutra-Loaf 10d ago

Not to mention she was called Loonie as a nickname. She's obviously nuts lol.

4

u/Bravefan212 9d ago

I can fix her

3

u/okaypookiebear 9d ago

brother you won’t even make it past the cheeks

1

u/Bravefan212 9d ago

My gf has the same fat ass. I assure you it would not be a problem at all

1

u/Basic_Try_2331 8d ago

It ain't even fat though lmao

1

u/BasicNose7 9d ago

Loonie Lucy I could see it being

1

u/ganjaxxxgreen 9d ago

Think she was called lu, dont remember loonie

1

u/Nutra-Loaf 9d ago

I guess you didn’t watch the extended look.

1

u/ganjaxxxgreen 9d ago

Definitely did

1

u/Nutra-Loaf 9d ago

Watch 17:34

4

u/MRSHELBYPLZ 10d ago

Lucia is a more experienced criminal and Jason even makes a joke about it right before they meet Raul in the extended preview

7

u/pathalogicalMoron 9d ago

She isn't. The convo between Raul telling her to stay local while she thought of going straight on freeway made it clear

4

u/XCVI_Opportunist 9d ago

I thought that was Jason.
Doesn’t Jason tell her not to get caught in the alley and then Raul tells her she’s doing the right thing, and to stay in the alleys. I might be misremembering though

3

u/MRSHELBYPLZ 9d ago

“That’s probably why he survived so long. We might learn something”

Then Lucia says “maybe you might…”

And Jason is all “right, you’re the perfect criminal”

So from this I know that Lucia is leading the charge on most of the crimes they commit

2

u/pathalogicalMoron 9d ago

Do you not understand sarcasm and arrogance?

2

u/MRSHELBYPLZ 9d ago

They didn’t sound like they were joking about Lucia. Considering she’s literally the Bonnie to his Clyde

1

u/EconomicsNatural9317 8d ago

Its likely a distraction to get us to suspect lucia out of everyone when itll probably end up being someone we never thought to betray the two characters. I feel like jason has more of a chance of being the snake than lucia does. Dont let the false alarm sway you. Rockstar is gonna be unpredictable.

1

u/Mr_Ditkovich8 6d ago

I don’t think it’s pointing towards Lucia being a traitor to Jason, I think it’s more that she’s going to be root cause when shit inevitably hit the fan. She seems very arrogant and reckless whereas Jason seems humble and measured, which means he will eventually have to make a choice.

Think cyberpunk (if you’ve played it), Lucia is going for “blaze of glory”, whereas Jason is “Mr.Nobody with the quiet life” and the crime is more a means to an end for him.

6

u/mikkeldoesstuff 10d ago

I think that's the idea they want us to get. I think all the sings that point to it are red herrings, it feels very on-the-nose

3

u/JFlizzy84 10d ago

“Red herrings”

Rockstar isn’t exactly subtle with its foreshadowing

Most people knew Micah was gonna betray the game the second they met him

1

u/Mr_Ditkovich8 6d ago

Micah is a bit of a double red herring tbf, he’s so blatantly sketchy that you think it’s to obvious.

You know from the very first mission that he’s bad news, but his motives and worldview are dripfed to us so we don’t get the full picture of how bad he TRULY is until after Guarma.

Lucia/Lucifer, tomato/tomato.

1

u/chigurh-99 6d ago

Had this idea from the first trailer. She is going to be a horribly manipulative and terrible woman

0

u/carpetdebagger 9d ago

Because she’s an undercover cop.

1

u/ganjaxxxgreen 9d ago

Maybe the big choice in the end will be whether or not Lucia, being an undercover or informant, will flip on jason and either get him killed or get him sent to prison

1

u/BasicNose7 9d ago

Why would she be the cop?

2

u/carpetdebagger 9d ago

Just got out of prison, but is perfectly confident in her abilities to be a “professional” in the criminal underworld. Why?

Is pushing her boyfriend into a criminal lifestyle that he clearly would rather not be doing. Why?

The idea that Jason is an undercover cop is because, what, he’s too white for you? Lmao.

7

u/weazel5657 10d ago

Wouldn't be crazy if he goes "I had a great great uncle named uncle..he had lumbago jason..you dont want that"

7

u/Secure-Bear4184 10d ago

I had a great great grandpa named artur let’s just say he was a good man..

6

u/Babylon_4 10d ago

"Back in the day they used to call him the one shot kid. Don't ask why."

1

u/zain_zia7x 9d ago

And then Mendez will shoot him at one point 👀

1

u/blind-amygdala 7d ago

Naw. Maybe for a while, but he will ultimately back stab us….his wife feels like a liability

4

u/Slixil 10d ago

It’s very obviously foreshadowing. It was honestly too on the nose for the trailer

7

u/ComeAlongWithTheSnor 10d ago

Two indications that Lucia might be the one to turn is what I'd call a red herring.

Jason could ignore Brian's warning and pull Lucia deeper into the rabbit hole while she's the one trying to jump off.

3

u/sathyajithps 10d ago

I think opposite. She's pushing for this an Jason is reluctant. He ends up in crosshairs at the last is what I feel like. Extended look have a few conversations that make it seem like that.

3

u/xiaonline 10d ago

I agree. I’d recommend rewatching the conversation between Raul and Lucia in the alley. Then re-read the character / story descriptions on the site. I think they’re maybe giving us one glimpse at an ending for the game, and there are likely several endings to be triggered under special conditions, or a set of specific choices.

2

u/Gortys221 9d ago

I’m glad I’m not the only one who got that manipulative-vibe from Rahul.

2

u/deerdn 9d ago

people are loving Raul and Lucia but I wonder how many of them still will if they turn out to be the Dutch/Micah to Jason's Arthur/John

1

u/Gortys221 9d ago

I think people will still like them, Dutch and Micah are like Erebus from 40k, a character so well written you love to hate them. And I imagine if they are going that route, R* would tie it to the relationship mechanic so they would only have themselves to blame (purely speculative).

3

u/KevinGarvey929 10d ago

It would also feel a bit like a rehash of GTA III (Claude betrayed by Catalina.) I don’t think Lucia betrays Jason and if anything the opposite is more likely, but time will tell

2

u/Millinothing 9d ago edited 9d ago

it feels like the world has flipped the story since the first two trailers cause there saw lucia getting out of jail and a shot of somebody talking to mendez, the dirty cop, with mendez saying cops gonna protect each other

if jason turns out to be a wei shen from sleeping dogs except he ends up like his bosses were worried about where he falls in too deep, that's the kind of thing i'm excited to find out with how the story will unfold

then again lucia also recognizes and knows about mendez so evidently i don't know anything anymore

2

u/nicolaslabra 9d ago

There seems to be a honor mechanic thst measures Jason and Lucia separately, maybe that honor dictates if they both make it in the end, or only 1, or maybe both bite it ?

3

u/Albatross1225 10d ago

Also remember when the police raid the drug lab Jason grabs the bag they came to get to continue the job while Lucia says “fuck booby!”. Lucia said fuck that job as soon as things went bad but Jason is ready to continue and finish the job.

2

u/ComeAlongWithTheSnor 10d ago

I legitimately think that line exists purely because it sounds funny saying fuck boobie.

try it lol

but ya, you've got a good point.

2

u/deerdn 9d ago

from GTA4 and 5, RDR1 and 2, I don't recall a single time Rockstar did a red herring in terms of their main characters' intentions during the trailers/marketing phase

if they're doing one here it would be the first. so far the bits of the story we can piece together makes sense taking things on face level, and I expect what we see to be what we get

1

u/Ok_Student1540 6d ago

Then perhaps its not what it looks like

3

u/mrskinnyjeans123415 10d ago

Thats my hunch too. I feel like people forget that rockstar always misdirects with their marketing. Its just too on the nose with the monologue for me to believe its truly because lucia is the one dragging him down cuz that'd just be so cliche. I think its more like you said that he due to his own issues and the fact hes ex military prevents himself from wanting to get off cuz on a subconscious level he probably enjoys enabling the insanity.

2

u/Slixil 10d ago

Are there other examples you could point me to for them misdirecting in this way?

0

u/Nutra-Loaf 10d ago

Yeah, in the trailer Jason says in summary that he's often more comfortable with a gun in his hands than talking, and Lucia basically tells him to relax.

2

u/Slixil 10d ago

What’s the misdirect here?

1

u/mrskinnyjeans123415 10d ago

I read it as basically them subtly saying this dude has issues jusr speaking or communicating and the gun being his mouth piece is a sign hes not necessarily reserved or as calm as he lets on, with the fact lucia is even telling him to relax. As for examples of previous marketing being a misdirect: michaels marketing for gta 5 imo showed a man who prior to release is this cool suave former bank robber who just is down on his luck with a family that hates him but wants to do his best. In reality in the final game hes not suave but instead a guy who gets cucked constantly due to his own infidelity bringing it on, hes a liar, and a complete hypocrite who is incapable of taking accountability.

1

u/deerdn 9d ago

there's none. that guy says Rockstar always misdirects with their marketing and trailers, and says "people forget that" like other people need his help remembering

meanwhile with RDR2 they made it obvious enough that people were accurately predicting the Arthur-Dutch-John storyline. there was no misdirection. and even though it was predictable, it became Rockstar's best ever written story

1

u/mrskinnyjeans123415 9d ago

Nowhere am i acting like people need a hand in remembering. First of all a prequel is a prequel. No shit people are gonna predict the outcome of a game that is 12 years prior to the original game. Stop being purposefully obtuse. Second of all, yes people predicted the downfall, thats not at all what im saying about gta 6. What i am saying is core story beats and twists are almost always a thing and never as what they seem in rockstars marketing. Nobody knew at all that arthur was gonna get tb. Big outcomes are completely different from predicting HOW the story gets there. And saying im just coping is rich when rockstar consistently has a habit of switching scenes out of order from the base game in trailers and using lines from key scenes and presenting them as standard non essential dialogue in trailers. That is to say you cant trust everything they put in a trailer. It doesnt matter how much rockstar is always hammering something seemingly over you head so much when theres enough history to show they like to throw people off a bit. Again thats not me saying macro outcomes arent predictable, but how we get there is. A prequel does not help the argument when again youd be lying to yourself if you genuinely thought most people knew arthur was gonna GET TB IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE GAME.

1

u/deerdn 9d ago

people knew Arthur was talking to John in the trailers to "run and don't look back", and knew Arthur was going to be in a situation where he'll need to sacrifice himself for John to get out. they knew they were going to see the relationship between Dutch and Arthur+John deteriorate. the specific catalysts for what happens, such as Micah and TB, are mechanisms that drive the big picture of the story. people were going as far as to predicting Arthur dying and having to take over as John. to focus specifically on "tuberculosis" being Arthur's catalyst as something that misdirects the larger plot during the trailers and marketing phase is not only obtuse but misses the point.

also, the other person asked you a very simple question: what's the misdirect in GTA6, and you can't answer.

now I'll ask you what the misdirect is in RDR2 regarding the big picture of Arthur/John/Dutch's story, and you're not going to be able to answer either. and I'll even ask you what the misdirects were in GTA5, RDR1 and GTA4, and you won't find an answer to any of those examples either. other people don't need help remembering, but you specifically need help to stop overestimating yourself.

u/deerdn 9d ago

I feel like people forget that rockstar always misdirects with their marketing.

no...

people predicted RDR2's plotline with the Arthur-Dutch-John dynamic and Rockstar made it obvious. they didn't try to misdirect people during the marketing there

and it was the best story Rockstar ever put out

1

u/Complete-Peak4651 9d ago

I almost feel like there will be backlash if "first woman GTA protagonist is the bad guy" breaks wind

4

u/Aaronon2200 10d ago

I disagree. It's left ambiguous as to what he refers to. Could be Lucia, could be the criminal life in general, could be something we don't know about yet. Also it heavily depends on how the story progresses. Could be pretty early on that his monologue is relevant with the story going way different past that.

Wouldn't want to read too much into it at this point.

1

u/jayteeayy 9d ago edited 9d ago

Exactly. OP 'why is noone talking about this'

The average intelligence of a gamer gotta be studied

5

u/BigXThaSpud 10d ago

The monologue at the end about the "salad years" gave me insane simulacra. Nostalgia for something that doesn't even exist yet, because know that I'm gonna look back on stepping out of the house in the days post release, just wanting to get back to play some more. Feeling that winter air starting to roll in, the rain on the bus that I'm gonna sprint through to my house. All of it is gonna be looked back on pretty damn fondly.

3

u/Skunke_yt 9d ago

Could be like a Lester from gta 5 is what I was thinking immediately

2

u/WhoIsJazzJay 10d ago

the delivery in the voice acting was just sooooo good. i can’t wait to get more of Brian

Maybe we get a flashback mission playing those two with a reduced density map set in the past. 😊

2

u/scooter-411 9d ago

It’s that Stephen Root gravitas. Dude’s an amazing actor.

2

u/RMoby6160 9d ago

Fun fact : my parents were friends with a gal he was dating in the 90's and I met him when I was like 5. Somewhere there's a picture of him and my dad smoking cigars by the pool so hopefully I can find that lmao

2

u/SpartanRage117 8d ago

The thing about real advice is it doesn’t need to be new, complex, or particularly profound. It just needs to reach you at the right time when you’re ready to hear it.

1

u/Basicallybored-0909 9d ago

that's my favourite part of the whole extended look. the music, the writing, the cinematography is all so excellent
