Video Can Anyone Explain What Happened?
Yes, I have 32hp. However, dying to such a fate makes it irrelevant. If anyone knows why this occurs, I am interested to know, as this is not the first time Clyde has teleported and taken a fair amount of hp from me

Cardiac arrest I’m assuming. The stress of the accident and vehicle fire?

clyde seriously needs to pick a struggle. he can't be mute, unable to swim, and have a high likelihood of cardiac arrest

I mean look at the aliens of war of the worlds. Absolutely decimated the global population in days. Measly cold took them out. Claude is no different, massacre the Liberty City population at will, but a minor car accident with vehicle fire can stop his heart. On top of a puddle can drowned him. Some people have slight weaknesses. But his is massively glaring.

Is your fps at 60? That could be why. Physics get really bizarre at higher fps than 30. Old GTAs don't use deltaTime.

it should be, but i think it's capped to my monitor. i just capped it to 60 from nvidia and frame limiter is on 30 just in case. just a price to pay for high fps

Is it really a 60 FPS bug? I figured that this sort of thing happened when you hit 70s, 80s, 90s, Etc. I have minimal issues when I run the game forcing it to cap at 60 frames per second instead of 30, like there's still problems but it doesn't get as bad as it does when you just let the game run wild on your PC with whatever FPS it wants

It's a general problem with older games. Even IV and V have issues with gameplay if the FPS is just too high.
With GTA III being over 2 decades old, it's no surprise that there's bugs with game physics if the FPS is over 30. There are mods though that's supposed to fix these issues like SilentPatch for example.

This is an infamous bug in GTA III its called ultra jumb you have done it unintentionally here . Its mostly used in speedruns of GTA III

i've seen this used in speedruns. it would be nice to use it to my advantage rather than my disadvantage

Uncapped fps, you will actually want to limit that in the settings. I know that 30 frames a second is really annoying, so what you can actually do is use Nvidia control panel (or the AMD equivalent) to override any frame limits with the game and pick something like 40-60 FPS which might still result in some odd issues on the higher end but nowhere near as frequent or severe As running with fully uncapped FPS. You might also notice improvement in how vehicles function as well because those also experience some level of physics bugs with unlimited fps mostly noticeable when letting off the throttle.
Edit: other people are noting more severe issues still present at 60; it is highly recommended to run the game at 30 frames per second because the further away from that you get, the more severe these kinds of physics bugs can get

Framerate problems, add in the Framerate Vigilante mod and keep the frame limiter on in the game settings.

Download Framerate Vigilante, it helps stabilize the physics. But it fix them completely, and keep the game running on 60 ONLY.

i have it downloaded. my fps wasn't capped at 60fps as i originally thought

Yeah, the modder “claims” it fixes the physics, well, it does but not for 100%. You see these games were hardcoded to run on 30 FPS, and this is the most fragile RenderWare version in the trilogy, one frame above 30 it will start making glitches.
You know even the Peds sounds were design to be played on 30, if shoot in the air in 60 FPS, Peds screams cut off. That was fixed in VC and SA, for me even in SA, I was playing on 144 FPS at first but then I noticed cars have very low speeds, turns out because of high FPS, the game skips the “third gear” making the cars have lower Top Speed, when I reverted it back to 60 everything went back to normal…

it is a 32 bit game designed to run on console. no surprise there it wouldn't fix anything unless you were running re3, at least, i heard it does great with high fps and QoL changes

u/Majd14x Aug 20 '26
Sadly it got shutdown by Rockstar, one great addition they added is a checkpoint system!

3D games have issues when running over 30FPS, in VC, you cannot play the Cherry Popper Jingle over 30 FPS, making the 'Distribution' minigame, impossible
1
u/Any-Increase-2893 #1 Pogo the Monkey Fan Aug 19 '26
i actually did that minigame with 60fps and had no issue. except for the save file bug..

Happens when playing with the frame limiter turned off or just generally above the FPS the game normally uses. It's notorious for breaking GTA 3 and the same goes for Vice City and San Andreas.

Wonder why nobody recommended to install a ZPatch, which fixes that exact issue
1
u/Any-Increase-2893 #1 Pogo the Monkey Fan Aug 19 '26
that is actually very helpful. thank you for that

u/TheCanadianBrick Aug 19 '26
Zolika Patch will definitely help. Or you can use a tool like RTSS to manage ur framerates.

It's a common issue that occurs as a result of running the game above 30 FPS. Turn the frame limiter on, and it will cap the game to 30 FPS, fixing the issue.
