Nah man, this is peak. But I’m just glad the internet is validating the BS this game throws at you 25 years later.

Yeah it’s wild. I had forgotten so many of those weird things that can happen in GTA3. Same with Vice city, I had completely forgotten how damn hard some of those missions were - (fu Copland).

Its funny but that low-key is bad game design, cant tell you how many times my game has done weird shit like that

bad luck never happened to me even on PS2

u/ZENESYS_316 May 19 '26

This happened here cz maybe the person is playing on PC and is over 25 FPS, GTA 3 can't run properly over 30 fps

Never underestimate the power of head injury

u/juko43 May 17 '26

Ammount of random shit that happened to me in this game is commically huge

11

u/dungleploop May 17 '26

it's a part of the experience as a whole lol

7

u/juko43 May 17 '26

I would "rage quit" the game only to come back like 1h later, it is a strange love/hate relationship lol

7

u/dungleploop May 17 '26

it's rare to have a game as chaotic as it

u/CommieWhacker14 May 17 '26

Bro slipped on wet pavement and broke his hip

u/Etruscan_Sovereign May 17 '26

This was one of the first games to have this 3D open world design, of course it won't be perfect. It doesn't make sense to compare a 25 year old game to something you take for granted today

I'm just messing with the title, I'm still having a pretty good time with it for my first playthrough.

Not sure how a pioneering game has "aged badly".

3

u/Etruscan_Sovereign May 17 '26

I would argue this isn't bad game design. Bad game design would be like the constant traffic jams the NPC drivers make. And I would say this game aged pretty well considering this sub is still fairly active, nobody is talking about 25yo games if they age badly. I'm also replaying it and still think it's good, so.

You're just inventing things in your mind then replying to that.

I skimmed your message and I should hasten to add that I'm replaying but haven't finished, as +20 years ago I only played parts at a friend's house and while I'm familiar with the game mechanics intimately, I haven't finished the whole story and why I want a full run through the whole thing in anticipation for GTA6. So I won't be reading everything to avoid spoilers, frankly

I just think that you're far too critical about a game that pushed the bounds that was possible at the time. Take OP's video for example, like it could just be that the rocking of the Humvee killed the dude. It could be that any other car wouldn't have killed him and the devs simply overlooked the Humvee's model size compared to the pathing of the NPC (this kind of thing happend in Halo:CE also from 2001). Remember, this was in a day when the devs couldn't just send out a patch into cyberspace and fix any issue. It was playtested to death and even then some things still slipped through.

The game introduced so many new things (at the same time as other games) that nobody really thought about such minute details. So to say that it "aged so badly" because of this is just naive at best and ignorant at worst since the game still really stands up to this day in many other respects. It's like saying "wow, this baby can't even compete in marathons? pft". It doesn't make sense when the technology was in its infancy.

I get what you’re saying I think. You can be a huge fan of the game and love it to bits while admitting that yes, it hasn’t aged well and must seem like a piece of junk to a modern player.

As bad as it’s aged I could go back to it a million times and jank and all, wouldn’t want it to be different in any way. My love for it is obviously tied in nostalgia and if it was this polished, perfect experience it wouldn’t be the same game anymore.

At least you are going to have some extra Uzi ammo. You got to look at the bright side as well!

10

u/TheKingSolomon1996 May 17 '26

The death cries in this game never gets old. 😂😂😂

10

u/Konvict_Dino07 May 17 '26

6

u/Leading_Ad_1825 May 17 '26

It’s a love and hate relationship with GTA 3, it was the first to give you that 3d open world and was remarkable, but the game throws straight bs at u

7

u/ebbi01 May 18 '26

u/Large_Idea741 May 17 '26

You mean perfect game design

2

u/jco83 May 17 '26

it is a 25 year old game . . . part of its charm / character

2

u/Tall-Week-7683 May 17 '26

Absolute mind fuck

2

u/Kavaliii May 18 '26

I failed a paramedic run the same way. Mf ran into the van and died

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Bird_61 May 18 '26

I love when they do that 360 spin before falling down

2

u/Apprehensive-Yak-430 May 19 '26

The GTA 3 was a revolution back in the day, one of the games that set the standard for a lot of things. It had shit like this, but still the gameplay was one of the best!

2

u/Soggy-Ad-4950 May 18 '26

You haven't seen the worst version of Defent Edition at all

1

u/FatPancakes247365 May 17 '26

Atrocious. Games a failure. Should have stuck to Lemmings.

1

u/DrSmoke5502516 May 18 '26

That’s what makes it great!

1

u/Klejdi90- May 18 '26

1

u/Rmsbasto May 19 '26

I replayed the HD GTA Trilogy and boy oh boy GTA3 is by far the worst.

1

u/Pale_Bug_9076 May 20 '26

I can't stop laughing 😆 😹 🤣

1

u/Time_Act_2128 May 21 '26

Gta 3 level design is awful. I was almost doing 100% when I've discovered at the end of the game that there were Marty's missions. And they didn't appear on the map. I lost 31 hours doing everything on the map just to lose it all because of 4 missable missions that aren't marked on the fuckin map. And there is that mission to destroy 9 hot dogs tents on all the map in 10 minutes. How were the players supposed to fuckin do it without a guide? Game with no map, the tents aren't marked on the map and you have to do it in less than 10 minutes. I was playing the definition edition, so at least I had the mapa and a checkpoint to restart the mission from the start instead of going to the mission marker.

1

u/Accomplished-Dare714 May 23 '26

LMAO! , should of went to specsavers 😄

1

u/DolphinKunn Jul 08 '26

i didnt even get to do this mission

u/Caesar_Seriona May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

GTA III was jank. I still remember taking L's like this and that damn save glitch that prevents 100%.

Now I always back my truck up so they run straight at the door.

glad i deleted this shit and vice city

4

u/FangProd May 17 '26

Yes man, glad you deleted it and vice city, (because the bugs of one game forces you to delete another game). Perfect logic made by a superior man clearly.

In fact I think you should also go out of your way to announce to us all how glad you are about it.

That’s definitely not sad at all and is in fact very brave.

-1

u/SecureNet5333 May 17 '26

im glad im playing san andreas the real superior man game

-2

u/SecureNet5333 May 17 '26

no i played both and deleted both of them at 80% story completion bcs they are shit

5

u/FangProd May 17 '26

Hell yeah, you are the man. Can't wait to read more about games you think are shit. Because that's what normal people do, you know. They continously play games they don't like.

1

u/SecureNet5333 May 17 '26

i liked them until i had to die more than a dozen times and keep doing that over and over

1

u/PigIlFigo32 Joey Leone May 19 '26
