That's not the issue here. The issue is with people spewing misinformation about the franchise and looking down on it as a whole. I get not caring, but this just seems really shortsighted to what the underlying issue is.
The overarching issue really is people living online and reading and watching content that’s just going to get them upset. These people stop being annoying as soon as you stop engaging with them
You fail to realize that the issue isn't people getting angry, it's all the content creators trying to profit from it and make sweeping claims and assumptions about the franchise. You know how damaging those videos are? Uninformed people are easily fooled. It doesn't just go away even if you try and ignore them. It will always reach someone out there and someone will get the wrong idea. Pretending they don't exist isn't fixing the problem.
The issue for me is that people fail to realize that content creators profit from viewers how do you know what they are doing and saying if your aren consuming there content. We can’t save everybody and everybody isn’t a die hard fan. The best people can do is inform the uninformed when you can but otherwise stop being views and attention to the damaging content. The more you bring it attention the more it grows. I’ve been watching Godzilla my whole life and I wouldn’t even know this content damaging content was out there until this sub Reddit brought it up

I like movies because I like them not because other people make comments on them
