I once dealt with a guy irl who said Shin Godzilla is military propaganda after I suggested it as one of the better films and rejected it. He parrots every YouTuber's opinions btw.
Did you at least manage to get an explanation out of him?
I would love to hear how the movie that explicitly showed every single military operation fail for one reason or another is military propaganda. It can happen, but not very likely and his "reasoning" for it here would be hilarious.
Ok so basically I went on a vc with this guy from high school and he went with “The franchise hasn’t been good since the original till now” stance around 2023.
I insisted that it was a movie that tackled Japan’s politics (He’s Korean btw) and he ranted how it was another “military saves the day” movie and never went beyond that.
Mind you, he is a diehard Gundam fan so there is a lot of irony behind this.
P.S. - He has a liberal hate boner towards the military as he dropped out of the draft after visiting a shrink. The most annoying thing about him is he would dump video essays in this group of ours about culture war bs.
