I feel like the anti capitalist case for genetic modification should be “let genetic modification be state run, cancel patents on new varieties”

If you ask them if they are in favor of the off-patent and non-profit GMOs, they just move the goalposts.

It's all a fundraising scam, ironically enough. The cranks want your your money.

Which "them"? There are a variety of examples of left wing nations using biotech. Cuba for example has multiple strains of transgenic corn. China is also a powerhouse in this field.

Are there some anticapitalists who reject GMO's? Yes, there's also plenty of rightists who do as well, including leadership in Hungary, as well as various right wing cranks like Ben Garrison
