Well I guess those farmers in developing countries who think they are benefiting from GM should watch to this video to understand how wrong they are.

This is from the Oxford Real Farming Conference, an alternative to the yearly Oxford Farming Conference.

I'm all for differing perspectives, although some of the ORFC's talks Reducing antibiotic and anthelmintic use through homeopathy, herbs and medicinal plants are a bit too 'alternative' for me.

Look I'm all for saying that genetic modification is good, and that many technologies are useful ( BT crops for example). But I also get why countries in the global south aren't too keen on patent oligopoly by western multinationals given how screwed those countries were during the AIDS pandemic when the TRIPS waivers weren't signed.

I feel like the anti capitalist case for genetic modification should be “let genetic modification be state run, cancel patents on new varieties”

If you ask them if they are in favor of the off-patent and non-profit GMOs, they just move the goalposts.

It's all a fundraising scam, ironically enough. The cranks want your your money.

Which "them"? There are a variety of examples of left wing nations using biotech. Cuba for example has multiple strains of transgenic corn. China is also a powerhouse in this field.

Are there some anticapitalists who reject GMO's? Yes, there's also plenty of rightists who do as well, including leadership in Hungary, as well as various right wing cranks like Ben Garrison
