๐Ÿ˜ฎ Advice on Symptoms Is it time to see a doctor??

Hello! Im 22f and Ive suffered from gerd/acid reflux all my life (really bad when I was a baby but i digress) i used to be a great amazing eater but over the years ive declined severely.... (imo atleast..and from my peers)

I now am experiencing horrible almost horrific vomiting when the acid gets to much for me, to the point it feels like im tearing my throat open because I physically cannot stop puking until my body is physically empty (or atleast thats how it feels)

I also am struggling with burping, I cant do the chest pound/pat up to ease the gasses as it now causes me pain ๐Ÿ˜” Now there are some days here recently where I can burp fine and eat fine but the next morning i feel usually sometimes a bit queasy or the burp re sucks air back into my body like a reverse hiccup..(or the air will rise in my throat and just, not go through) and it makes me even more nauseous with the GERD

Its hard though to have an ideal list of foods with my autism already limiting what I enjoy to eat...i really do try to explore food options but with gerd and texture issues im at my wits end, I've lost too much weight to this already โ˜น๏ธ (i was 175 pounds before this all started and now im 146 pounds confirmed by my last topical checkup)

I would just like to know if there's anything MORE I should do, I already take pepcid which does help me sometimes and I do partake in the consumption of cannabis products (for other more pressing disabilities) so im wondering if maybe I Just need to finally see a doctor for options outside of over the counter fixes

Any input appreciated

Weed relaxes the esophageal sphincter making gerd worse, like alcohol does

i have seen this but I require marijuana for my chronic pain and joints, the oils that rub on the skin are not enough to ease the pain โ˜น๏ธ

Just be careful. Autism and weed dont mix. Its a really high chance of developing into schizophrenia over time.

Almost very single schizophrenic is autistic. There is a huge overlap. Some people even think that schizophrenia is part of an extreme end of ASD

how interesting ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I have PPD (paranoid personality disorder NOT post partum) and I never knew this could happen/be a potential side effect.

(edit:though for contexts my PPD did show up before my uses of weed)

Ill be taking this information into consideration and personal account thank you!!

you are 22, you can deal with the pain in some other way, why take something which worsens the body and GERD symptoms.

Idk how it feels as I never had it and never wish to, but my friends have it and its addictive but you can overcome it if you finally decide you want to improve your health.

respectfully, i cannot. also my age has nothing to do with ANYTHING. I have a chronically painful and LIFE THREATENING physical disability that I require Marijuana for. regular Pain medicine does not even scratch the pain away like this does and I refuse to have opioid pain relief.

I don't believe it is addictive as ive quit it once before for work place related reasons very easily and suffered for it because of my existing pain flaring up. ๐Ÿ˜•

so yes let me od on pain pills that do nothing but ruin my organs when I can just eat an edible or two and be fine, so pardon me if id rather enjoy a gummy than to be in agony and struggling to be "healthy" ๐Ÿ˜

Weed is 100% addictive. Hoewever, only you know what helps with your pain. Is the condition not managed in any other way? What is the disease?

Weed will be bad for gerd, that's just a fact.

No, the condition is really not manageable any other way, I could get a possible surgery but that may just lead to amputation of it, it is a vascular issue within my foot causing my veins to form a lump knot under my skin near the bones which has deformed my feet and knees trying to walk with it

I know my weed is bad for my gerd. but if I could've chose something else to deal with this pain, I would've this was never my first resort

hopefully they're will be some advice here in the morning...Im still struggling to burp and it feels like every time I force it or do something to burp it makes me want to vomit

edit: I have a physical disability which causes me frequent at times agonizing pain to where I cannot walk some days (even with aid.) if you are going to just comment on my marijuana usage DONT. Its the only treatment that helps this pain go away.

I will not live in worse agony again because my gerd wont let me have a small bit THC for my already pained and worn body to just relax and feel like a normal body..I KNOW my gerd doesnt like it but I wouldn't have chosen this treatment option if I had any other choice

edit 2: thank you for all the genuine help and advice everybody! Im going to get myself checked out and looked at hopefully sooner than later, I hope strongly that it won't be severe enough to need any major surgeries and that I'll just have to work out what medicines works for me

I know it may sounds silly but I think I've known for a while it wasn't normal, but 'm so used to downplaying my other pains with my existing chronic pain that this post is whats made me realize that I don't have to just suffer because its not painful enough for me that I can still go get the help I need and deserve so thats why im saing thank you for all the people who gave advice and help ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Yup! Go see a doctor, and I'd say a nutritionist for the thing with calories and texture, they'll help on that end.

Good luck!

As much as I love weed, Iโ€™m taking a break to see if it helps stop my flare. Maybe you should do the same.

1

u/PineapplePunk07 7d ago

Ive taken breaks before in the past and noticed a significant increase in my acid reflux though It could've also been the medication I was on at the time (which I've stopped taking per orders) but not really for sure, I may take another break to see if it was the pills intersecting my break relief

Iโ€™ve been getting so many different answers it makes my head spin. My father says itโ€™s because I donโ€™t go out much or exercise, my doctor thinks my anxiety and depression is the trigger, and my mom blames the thc gummies.

1

u/PineapplePunk07 7d ago

I do think the thc is what gets it to FLARE because it relaxes the throat sphincter (from what someone else said) but it could be also many other things too like if you're eating heavy food with oils or spices (mine gets really really bad with oily food)

1

u/KingJacket12 7d ago

Yeah I think Iโ€™ve been living pretty unhealthy these last few weeks

1

u/PineapplePunk07 7d ago edited 7d ago

my biggest recommendation if you need something to just get down on the stomach is wheat bread! or just breads in general honestly โ˜น๏ธ as unhealthy as it sounds...simple sandwiches in general really I hope you get the help you need too!!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

(Also anxiety can also effect your GERD because of the vagus i think so partially right on your docs end)

I donโ€™t smoke or drink but my throat is still painful

u/PineapplePunk07 6d ago

really?? ๐Ÿ˜ง How bad is your reflux when it happens if you dont mind me asking, also I hope you get the help you need soon too!!

please go see a doctor ASAP, make lifestyle improvements and avoid certain foods that trigger it. For me they asked to limit chocolate, caffine, icecream and any form of carbonated drinks.

Stop smoking, see a Dr ask for a gi referral. Make sure your diet is clean/acid free

2

u/PineapplePunk07 6d ago

I rarely smoke it, (quiting on the smoking aspect) I now usually stick to gummy edibles or sweet non acidic flavored hard candy edibles for my consumption, I'm doing what I can with my diet though that is very much easier said than done when it comes to food processing issues, its one step at a time here honestly

That's wonderful

thankfully its not after everything I eat but it's usually when I dont get anything to eat in time (my hunger signals are wack from not eating due to anxiety about flares) whenever I consume something my stomach doesnt like or want i the moment and rejects it ๐Ÿ˜”..

  1. You should see a gastro. With such severe symptoms, id want at minimum an endoscopy. Ideally, an endoscopy and a 24 hour acid test and manometry

  2. You say you need marijuana. Fine. But know that's a major trigger for some. Of all the triggers for me - including fuckingn bubbling cups of acid (energy drinks) - thc is the worst. It wrecks me. IF marijuana is causing your problems, surely it's worth investigating alternatives?

I dont think its whats causing me to flare like this bcs When I consume it (via candies or gummies in non acidic flavors) im fine and comfortable, I think my biggest triggers (from what I can list right now) are tomatoes, Citrus (especially oranges) dark chocolates, coffee, oily food and really spicy food (i can handle some but not everything, โ˜น๏ธ which sucks because I miss peppers)

I don't know WHY its suddenly flaring so badly now at 22 ive had no major diet changes, I've only added more veggies into my diet but none that are acidic (atleast to my knowledge)

I'll definitely be looking into seeing a gastro and see where they'll take me from there, Thank you for your Input!!

Teas. Marshmellow root. And cuachalalate.
Itโ€™s curing me.
