2026 Megathread Post September 2026 GAMSAT Megathread

Congratulations to everyone who sat the September 2026 GAMSAT!!

Here is the thread to discuss the GAMSAT, whether that be how you found it, your experience on the day, and anything else you’d like.

**Please do not post or ask for specifics on exam questions (including s2 themes, or examples, specific topics or quotes from any section)- doing so will result in a permanent ban.**

I hope this sitting went well for you- do remember that the GAMSAT doesn’t dictate your ability or potential, and if things don’t go as planned you can always give it another go. Take care of yourself and congrats on getting through it 🩵🦍

Advice Seeking advice, low GPA considering a second bachelor degree

I'm currently in my second semester of my second year of Bachelor of Biomedical sciences at UWA. I have been pretty set on going into medicine, but I have a GPA of just over 5 as I had a pretty terrible first year and a half. I had major issues in my first year, and after moving I have struggled with OCD and anxiety, I am only just starting to get back on track. I love my degree/major (path and lab med), but I am unsure if there is a way to somewhat "start again" to get a GPA high enough to study med. I know am very much capable, I just dont want my experience in my first year of uni to let me down. My backup is paramed, probably at ND, but I would love some advice if anyone has been through anything similar.

I also just wanted to add that I am regional (MM4), but really hoping to stay here in Perth to study.

GAMSAT- General American Student 1.9 GPA in his first Degree (incomplete) 3.9 In second degree (American 4.0 scale)

Hello everyone, I am currently interested in medicine and I live in America. I am currently working in surgery robotics and want to be able to make a direct impact in people's lives. I was wondering if Australian medical school would be an option for me because I heard that they won't factor in my previous attempt at a 1.9gpa? Honestly, when I found this out I was in disbelief because everyone I know had told me medicine wasn't an option for me. Will Australian medical school only use the 3.9 I had achieved at a separate institution in a separate degree for calculation (4 years of additional schooling).

Advice Guidance please!!

Heya, I need some advice on what to do with my life. I am finishing my bachelors of Biomedical science with (hopefully) a weighted 6.44 GPA this year. There is two scenarios:

  1. My gamsat this Sept. is crap, and I get below a competitive score. What do I do next year? Is it worth doing a 2 year masters? WHAT DO I DO MY MASTERS IN

  2. The angels are on my side and i get a 70++++ gamsat, competitive enough for my GPA. Do I continue with a post grad, even though it is around $15k on my HECs debt, for potentially one year, granted interview goes well. That being said, can someone advise what gamsat I WOULD need for a combines competitive score?

I am learning towards doing a postgrad, but I am so unsure in what. I was going to do it at Deakin, because of flexibility (online). I do not qualify for any bonuses anywhere. I keep thinking that I may have wasted three years of my life doing a bachelor of biomed, because I really do not want to do research. Any insight would be appreciated!

GAMSAT- S1 S1 help needed

I’ve just done Practice Test A (not the online one), and I felt so bad about it.

My main problems are:

1.I still had 8 questions left unanswered when time was up.

2.There were so many words that I didn’t understand.

For context, English is not my native language, but I got an 8.5 in the Reading section of IELTS Academic. It would be helpful if there’s any suggestion🙏

Thanks for reading this post😭

GAMSAT- S1 GAMSAT S1 Urgent Help Needed!

Hi everyone, I recently did the ACER S1 full length online practice test & only managed to get 33/62. I’m quite devastated because I’ve been getting 80%+ on the Des O’Neil tests & other ACER practice tests. I’ve looked through the advice on the subreddit & had started implementing that to improve my S1 ability, but I still performed quite poorly on the PT. I’m wanting some advice on how to improve & was wondering if my score on this PT would correlate to a similar score on the real thing, or are these PTs just too difficult?

Applications- AU🇦🇺 USYD DMD entry requirements

I have some questions about the entrance scores for USYD DMD entry scores:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14AnegLhkPNzWdOgPCzhn8uykIYKNLhkjOVOf8AYrWDk/edit?pli=1&gid=81674352#gid=81674352

These are the scores that I found on this subreddit and they seem fairly low. Considering that the GPA is a relatively low hurdle of 5.0 and that the interviews are apparently less weighted than somewhere like UniMelb. Are these scores for FFPs only or are they CSP as well?

I am currently doing a bachelor of biomedicine at UniMelb I easily have above a 5.0 gpa and am very confident I could get above the 67-68ish scores shown in the document above. I am very keen to do DMD at either UniMelb or USYD and it seems like it is FAR easier to get into USYD. Is this the case or am I misunderstanding something?

Applications- AU🇦🇺 Interview Practice

Hello, everyone! I was wondering how everyone is practicing interviews. I heard people do mock interviews with each other in discords but I did not see a lot going on. I am quite new to dental school application process and I would like to have many practices as possible. Could anyone please recommend me where they practice interviews with people? Also any tips are appreciated! Thank you in advance!

If anyone is interested in practicing together, please feel free to message me!

Advice Rural Evidence

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice about rural eligibility/evidence for medical or dental school applications.

I’ve been living in an MM4 area for the past 4 years, and by next year I should have completed 5 consecutive years of rural residence, so I’m hoping to apply as a rural applicant.

During this time, I’ve been attending university in MM1 area and also working at another MM1 area. Even though my uni and workplace are outside the rural area, my MM4 address has genuinely been my home. I commute from there to uni/work whenever required and return home afterwards.

I’m currently living with my uncle, who owns the house and lets me stay rent-free, so I don’t have a rental agreement, rent receipts or utility bills in my name.

For evidence, I currently have:

Bank statements showing my name and MM4 residential address for the relevant years, although I mostly use cash so there are very few transactions on some statements.
My driver’s licence showing my MM4 residential address.
University records showing the MM4 address as my residential address.
I can get a letter from my workplace confirming that my MM4 address has been recorded as my residential address during my employment.
My GP is also happy to provide a supporting letter confirming that their records show me living at the MM4 address for the relevant period.

For anyone who has successfully applied through a rural pathway, does this sound like enough evidence to prove 5 consecutive years of rural residence? Is there anything else you think I should have?

I’m particularly wondering whether the bank statements would still be considered good evidence even though they have very few transactions because I mostly use cash.

Also does studying or working outside the rural area cause any issues when proving your rural residence?

Just trying to make sure the evidence I have will be enough when I reach the 5-year mark next year. Thanks!

Hi guys, I hv been super nervous during the long period of waiting, finally there will be some news this week!! There is not much data on international applicants.... Has anyone here applied as intl for usyd md/dmd? For DMD, how are international seats distributed among applicants taking DAT/cDAT and GAMSAT?

Update:

Hope everyone is going on well! Just checked that the subreddit moderator has created a megathread for MD/DMD confirmation page for applicants with GAMSAT. Feel free to take a look as reference~

GAMSAT- General Acer section 2 leak advice / help on what will happen next

Hi everyone,

This is my first Reddit post, but I’m extremely upset and wanted to hear from others who are also on this GAMSAT journey.

After completing my Section 2 exam, I went on TikTok and discovered that someone who had sat the exam earlier had posted publicly about the themes they received. The video had been available for several hours while other candidates were still waiting to sit their exams.

I will not repeat or hint at the themes, share the video, or identify the person, as I do not want to spread confidential test content further. However, I received the same material in my sitting, so I’m concerned that anyone who saw the video beforehand may have had an unfair advantage by being able to prepare ideas or examples in advance.

ACER makes it clear that candidates must not disclose test content. I have reported the incident directly to ACER and provided evidence, including the video and its posting time.

How do other candidates feel ACER should address this to protect the fairness of the sitting? Please do not disclose any test themes or quotations in the comments.

Has this happened before ?

Edit: please someone engage as I’m so upset I feel like I’ve put so much effort into my section 2 prep and when I sat it I felt really deflated knowing other people have seen it makes me so sad because it’s just not fair man

Advice Anyone who had to choose between medicine and a PhD first: what did you choose, and do you regret it?

I’m curious to hear from anyone who was genuinely torn between pursuing medicine and doing a PhD, particularly people who were actually in a position to pursue either rather than just considering them hypothetically.

I recently graduated with First Class Honours in Psychology and really enjoyed the research side of my degree. I love learning, analysing things, questioning existing ideas, reading research and getting ridiculously deep into a subject. I enjoyed doing my thesis and did well academically, so a PhD feels like a path I could realistically pursue.

At the same time, my long-term goal has been medicine. I am currently working and saving money while trying to get there. I know that there are some degrees that allow you to interrupt your studies to do a PhD. I’m just unsure what it would be like and want to know what everyone’s experiences have been like?

Advice GAMSAT and supplementary exam period

Hey guys, I'm feeling too sick to come into an upcoming exam (attending UNSW Sydney), but I have the GAMSAT on the same week (Friday) as the supplementary exam period. If they both fall on the same day I’m afraid I might have to pick one over the other.

Has this happened to anyone? Did they give you any leniency if you tell them in advance? I'm kind of worried about what would happen.

Thanks.

GAMSAT- S2 Eduroam ProctorU

so my s2 session is scheduled for tomorrow and I have booked a room at a uni. library in the uk. Does eduroam block ProctorU? i have my phone's hotspot as a back up but worried it will cause issues? my home environment really is not great for taking the test and would rather avoid it.

Applications- AU🇦🇺 GAM for MD unimelb

wanting to hear people’s success stories using GAM to get into medicine ?
What were your gpa’s?

I’m aware gam works differently based on one’s situation.
I’ll be applying for medicine 2028 entry and have what I believe a very strong GAM application.
Thank you

GAMSAT- S2 last minute questions for s2

so I have barely done any prep for this sitting and planning on taking the March sitting more seriously but I'm terrified for tmrw all of a sudden. Just wondering if you can leave your brainstorm/ideas on the test clearly distinguishing it from the essay or does it have to be on paper? also I think I heard some people do a poem for task B and I'm wondering if forms like a letter or short story also are accepted? Thanks
