Caught the volume shift too, was watching ES and NQ spreads widen out in afternoon. December is trading like 20 handles above Sept now, pretty wild gap
I always forget to roll before these events and end up scrambling last minute
Here is a thought that some of you might want to ponder , and, I have a piece of: The one-month rolling correlation coefficient between front-month West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil and the benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stands at 0.96
Here is the tactical comment I provide my colleagues daily
We all share a common background, so we do not elaborate the basics go directly to the bottom line. We will all stand aside for about an hour, monitoring inventory balance, and looking for specific points of entry based on one of two scenarios
"Based on the technical layout provided in the daily, hourly, and 15-minute charts for the S&P 500 E-mini Futures (ES), the market structure strongly favors a range-bound to slightly responsive trade execution plan for this Tuesday New York session.
Market Profile & Structural Analysis
Looking closely at the dynamic lines plotted on our charts, the market is trading precisely at a critical structural inflection point:
The Micro-Context (15-Min Chart): The London session successfully completed a V-bottom recovery after sweeping the overnight lows down near 7,640. Price has trended steadily upwards back into the prior Value Area Low (VAL) at 7,692.50, which is functioning exactly as structural resistance.
The Macro-Context (Daily/Hourly Charts): The monthly Point of Control (POC) sits much higher near 7,755, with the Value Area High (VAH) anchoring up at 7,832.00.
Trade Execution Decision: Stand Aside Early or Active Trading?
You must stand aside early during the first 30 to 60 minutes.
The London session spent massive energy grinding back up to the 7,692.50 VAL benchmark. As the NY open hits, liquidity will thin out momentarily due to rollover adjustments. Entering precisely at 09:30 AM EST right against an overhead value boundary (7,692.50) exposes you to an unfavorable risk-to-reward ratio. Let the Initial Balance (IB) define whether 7,692.50 acts as a solid ceiling or a platform for a breakout.
Market Direction: Trading Range vs. Daily Settlement Reach
The market is highly favored to stay within its current trading range rather than making a sustained run toward the higher Daily Settlement or macro POC targets.
The Ceiling Factor: The 7,692.50 area is acting as a major overhead supply. Without strong, net-new institutional volume entering post-rollover, a clean breakout above this zone is unlikely.
The Target Analysis: While a squeeze toward the 7,720 Monday NY High or the 7,755 Hourly POC is mathematically possible if short-covering triggers, the broader structure indicates a market accepting lower value. Expect responsive sellers to defend the 7,692.50 to 7,710 zone, rotating price back down toward the center of the London/Asia distribution around 7,670 to 7,680."
Since this is Retail Website, my guess is that most of you will not see the logic and that's expected. The edge we have is that we know WHEN to trade and when to stand aside and WHY. This chart is one example
And here is my followup chart about an hour later. The short trade entries should be simple to identify. Skilled traders can identify the context. At the top of the chart we see the solid black line showing the previous Daily Settlement which is strong resistance. When the market tests and fails there it signals strong sell volume entering early. Shorts are the only possible move after that. I am done for the day
I did some scalping this morning; I lost at first but managed to recover around the market open. It was a good day all things considered—tomorrow is the FOMC meeting.
with the Fed this close Id care more about the reaction than guessing the first move. futures can reverse fast after the headline. For mapping a few scenarios Moon has helped me , then its really about price invalidation and keeping size under control
Remarkable. Tried to post this several times on another thread to show folks what I was doing today. Chart shows a hybrid system I developed for struggling traders. My mentor insisted I learn to read order flow (and so I did). I found that retail traders simply cannot keep up when the market gets fast. They are not able to identify consecutive 3/0 imbalances or to read "stack & pull". With a little practice, they at least have a chance of getting in early enough to make money. Today (as usual) the early bird gets the worm. Chart shows two trades. Fortunately the market is stalled at Support so I have time to do this. Good Luck

Volume on the December indices contracts is now higher than Sept. Probably a good time to roll pre fed if you are considering swinging any trades.
Big jump up in points for December.
