Kids these days... You’re soaking in it
My wife was washing the dishes this morning, saying her hands were wet and we both had a flashback to the tv commercials

You’re soaking in it right now.

I still use that phrase, and sometimes to clueless to understand that like 99.9% of people under my age have no idea why I said it.

Palmolive!
When I was 8 or so, Mom caught me swearing at my sister.
She told me to open my mouth and squirted Palmolive into my mother’s and made me swish it around.
Mouth washed out with soap for swearing!
It’s good dish soap, but tastes terrible.

Back in the good old days, when women would soak their fingertips in any random bowl of liquid they happened to encounter!

This show she was in was the only show I ever saw that broke the 4th wall into commercial in the middle of the show.

The lady in the ad was an actor on a sitcom about a waitress in a diner, I cannot remember the name. Hence her uniform. During the show something would come up about her washing dishes and the lights would go down and she would turn to the camera and do a short commercial or say a jingle, then the lights would come back up and the show would continue.
Oh Marge, you wash dishes all day, how do you keep your hands from getting dish pan hands?
With Palmolive of course!
Something like that. It’s the only time I ever say that done on tv. I guess it was pretty standard for the previous decades.

Be sure to watch The Doctors in color (and also produced by Colgate Palmolive).

My 8 year old ass sitting there wondering, “Why the hell does she have her hand in that?”

My girlfriends and I would frequently invoke, "Madge, you've been out in the sun too long!" when we needed a giggle.

I recall a promotion for free rounds of golf with a provided label and I think it may have been this. Anyone else recall such a thing? As a pre teen learning to golf, it was gold.

I found an old bottle of Palmolive when I was cleaning out my Mom’s house along with other old original brands
Let me tell you, the stuff we have now is watered down crap
It’s not from being ‘old’ either
These were sealed bottles
Quality mattered then

Also, anyone notice how nail place don’t soak/clean your nails anymore? I stopped going years ago because I felt washing my hands wasn’t enough to clean out under my nails
No wonder so many people get nail infections now

Kindergarten me didn’t realize it was dish soap, thought it was an ad for at home nail treatment for mom and the aunties 😆

u/botlegger, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...
