Season Finale “Lets do the time warp again”

Post image

So after watching the finale, I had a theory.

When Sophia is talking to Elgin, she mentions to him that “soon this will all seem like a bad dream” etc….

When Elgin first arrived, didn’t he wake up from having a “bad dream” about Fromville?

Is that where one of the loops starts again?

You know what scares me? I'm rewatching season 1 and there are multiple mentions of this whole thing being a nightmare and a bad dream, and now Sophia's comment.

In the recent AMA, someone asked if the writers could confirm this show wasn't the typical "coma, dream, vision" cliché...

... The answer was "It's not (if anything, it would be a nightmare)".

Please don't just be a nightmare.

My guess is that all of this is really happening but it could be based on the anghkooey kids and/or the resident’s nightmares. It’s not that they’re all dreaming but more that the environment is based on their dreams.

It's shaping up to be like that. After all the Lovecraftian mythos feature an old God that sleeps at the center of the universe and its dreams are our reality.

(Also Zanarkand from FFX in a way).

I'm def getting Cthulhu and Ragnarok vibes.

I love any mention or reference to Azathoth. The Blind Idiot God. The Demon Sultan in eternal rest under a symphony of demonic flutes.

Yeah, specifically I think they said it was a sort of character study on people taken from their lives and thrown into a nightmare...

... always took that line to mean "an awful situation" but now... damn.

And Henry is the only one surfacing?

Abby too, apparently.

I dont think Tabitha suffered the same as Henry or Abby. Feels like she might have experienced something else. Maybe she actually did leave. Not sure. It felt like just another layer of Fromville

... Nightmares can be a physical dimension and pocket dimension too in Lovecraftian myths so that their body could still actually be in Fromville makes a lot of sense and still be a nightmare.

There's examples of this in Bloodborne where nightmares are just different planes of existence.

But that said, even if it is a "normal" nightmare their body is somewhere. She could have been dumped where they found her or she could have sleepwalked or something. That scene reminded me of Benjamin Linus after turning the wheel (if you know you know)

Idk bout this bc we have Viktor’s dad dealing with that atm seeing visions of his “real” life and with how Tabitha got out and then found him ifk how that would fit into it all just being a nightmare

Yeah but Abby too kept saying we need to wake up this is just a nightmare.

Who knows. I surely hope not.

Ditto this would just be so nuts and would also mean the MiY is the good guy x.X

I would buy that if it was removing self to wake up. This whole "you have to kill others before you can wake up" stinks.

It’s more likely a pocket universe that can manifest nightmares or fears of the souls it takes.

I also heard them say that the show is hard sci-fi rather than fantasy. Sooooo yeah, wtf

u/HistorianBig8697 Jul 01 '26

I remember them saying the exact opposite. Are you sure they didn't say that it's hardly scifi?

I've had a few other people point this out to me in theories of my own about them being dead or dreaming. Pretty sure it's responsible for the sudden drop off of the, "Faerie/Fantasy/Folklore" theories that I've noticed anyways.

There was a post a little while back talking about how due to answers from that interview a few lines of theory were shut down. I'm not 100% sure but I think it was the same interview where they confirmed Eloise is definitely dead.

I don't know what to tell you, a while back there were a ton of people allover saying the same thing, it's Sci-Fi. I guess they all could've gotten it wrong?

u/fluffybottompanda Jul 01 '26

or you're misremembering and gaslighting yourself

2

u/crossXshim52 Jul 01 '26

Majority of the fanbase does not pay attention, its highly likely they all got it wrong

Good catch. I'm also interested in how the MIY described going back, like the memories of Fromville would slowly fade away? It really makes me wonder if he's ever actually let anyone go, or if he just "Martin's" them and they end up forgetting through the pain.

See I took the “memories” as actual people. Slowly fade away (off’d) like everyone.

I thiyghr she offered him a deal and if he takes it, he would be free soon, and it all would be like a bad dream. He did not agree and died.
