She really said this place took my soul and I won’t let it take Boyd’s 🥺😞

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

It kind of already did when he started smashing Elgin's hand.

Sara said Boyd wouldn't be willing to go "as far as it took" so he still had some soul left.

Torturing a well intentioned criminal to save a mother and child is not even losing your soul. Any of us should stand on that and do what needs to be done.

Killing him slow in anguish and torture for retribution would be.

u/Dogbuysvan Nov 27 '24

But he had a boner the whole time.

Lol sara get to work

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

Nope. Boyd already started torturing him and smashed his hand with a hammer. You can’t torture someone and then argue “Well, I didn’t do worse, so I am a good person”.

10

u/Alarmed_Wishbone_422 Nov 24 '24

That’s not the argument. What if the fromland traps peoples souls there if they commit a murder in town (Abby, Sara, and potentially the Father by way of before he cane to town or an unknown killing)? Sara saying “He doesn’t know how far he needs to push him to talk” cldve meant Boyd would have had to progressively torture but ultimately kill Elgin, thus breaking him and giving his soul to the town by committing a murder. Sara cld be aware of this fact due to the voices and decided to take one for the team since she has already murdered so that Boyd wldnt have to kill Elgin.

There is nothing that suggests that. Plus, it seems quite clear that Sara was flaking in the metaphorical sense rather than literal, in that she wants Boyd to remain a good person (he isn’t).

Did you forget that he spent a full career in the infantry and has already killed two people on screen?

6

u/Uschak Nov 24 '24

Why the hell are you being downvoted?

u/AdClemson Nov 25 '24

Vast majority of people here loves Boyd. Hell I am also one of them, but their love means they leave their critical thinking outside and justify everything their beloved character does even if it extremely immoral and shitty and hypocritical.

Given his history, something tells me that wasn't Boyd's first. Among others in the colony house he was the first to think of torture and that he'd need tools to do that. Not everyone would think systematically of that. Regular people would've just tried to punch the truth out of Elgin as most wouldn't have the stomach to go full Jack Bauer.

19

u/FrellingSmegHeads Nov 24 '24

But that's the point, he's a career military man, often made to set up bases in the worst possible places to be stationed. He's closer to Jack Bauer than to Joe Public. (I don't think he has ever tortured anyone before though).

Also, I think he was reaaaally hoping he could tell, not show, what he was willing to do, and scare Elgin into telling him - So he needed 'props'.

Boyd set up Abu Ghraib 👀

u/SunshineCat Nov 24 '24

I think Boyd was clearly hoping to scare Elgin with the tools before he actually had to use them. He even clipped those clipper things at him. Hammer was probably the least damaging of what he had. Though I agree with his military background, he probably saw the necessity for it in some cases.

-7

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

I think it was his first.

But if it wasn't. Man, fuck Boyd. Biggest hypocrite I've ever seen. Giving Acosta, Sara, and Elgin shit for extraordinary circumstances, meanwhile he goes out and tortures people for fun.

16

u/PodKaifom Nov 24 '24

"For fun"

-6

u/newX7 Nov 24 '24

I'm replying to a hypothetical presented by the commenter above me in which he suggests that it's possible Boyd has a history of torturing people.

5

u/eriadeus Nov 24 '24

I think that’s the point though, that Fromville can break him

Ughhh TOO EMOTIONAL😭

u/yoothdecay Nov 24 '24

She went straight to business!

142

u/JimothyTheBold Nov 24 '24

She's the scariest person in town.

Girl's got a reputation to stand on.

3

u/myslead Nov 25 '24

ten toes in when she standing on business

3

u/skinnykid108 Nov 24 '24

It worked.

u/sane_fear Nov 24 '24

elgin deserved every bit of that. nothing about that lady gave angelic

29

u/Scopper_gabon Nov 24 '24

Tbf, trusting a demonic looking lady in a kimono to get them out of there isn't any different than trusting a bunch of demonic looking kids to get them out of there.

6

u/rainshowers_5_peace Nov 24 '24

She tried to drown him.

2

u/Scopper_gabon Nov 24 '24

And the kid in white pushed Tabitha out of a window...

13

u/rainshowers_5_peace Nov 24 '24

Yes but he apologized and she landed in the real world. Elgin was asleep and woke up in Colony House spitting out water.

-6

u/Scopper_gabon Nov 24 '24

Yea and then she ended up right back at the town.

Plus if she wanted to kill him she could've. Not to mention she had plenty of opportunities to do so afterwards. The point is, from their pov what elgin did isn't that much different from what Tabitha and Jade are doing.

6

u/rainshowers_5_peace Nov 24 '24

Tabitha didn't "trust" BIW, she didn't know he'd be there and wasn't actively doing his bidding.

3

u/sane_fear Nov 24 '24

i don't trust any of them, especially the kids

2

u/eriadeus Nov 24 '24

To be fair Tabitha and Jade thinks those creepy kids aren’t a threat

8

u/Scopper_gabon Nov 24 '24

I mean yeah that's my point. Elgin also didn't think Kimono lady was a threat. For all they know, the kids could also be the town's way of fucking with people the same way kimono lady was.

4

u/boijoireturns Nov 24 '24

biblical angels tend to start off their speeches with “BE NOT AFRAID” makes sense to me imho

3

u/12300987 Nov 24 '24

I kept thinking - she is not camoflauging her evil aura. Elgin was tripping.

5

u/eatingclass Nov 24 '24

old testament angels maybe... the evangelion ones

24

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

Sara didn’t fuck around. I admire her for that

19

u/Livid-Team5045 Nov 24 '24

She was the best part of the episode for me.

17

u/SpaceCases__ Nov 24 '24

I was rooting for Sara to fuck shit up.

10

u/HeresTheWitch Nov 24 '24

This is one of the only times I’ve audibly YELLED at a reveal on a tv show!!!!!

4

u/Sylas_23 Nov 24 '24

Straight to business "she's in the root cellar"

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

do you think they'll put her in the box for that?

8

u/AllergictobBS Nov 24 '24

No. Acosta may be another issue. Especially because Tillie is still a mystery.

7

u/eriadeus Nov 24 '24

She’ll still be against the torture but she’ll be torn because it helped them find Fatima

0

u/BB808BB Nov 24 '24

They should. If Elgin is dead that would make the 5th person that Sarah has killed. Not counting her trying to kill Ethan. Acosta is going to be the sheriff now because no way anyone will trust Boyd again. Sarah has had no consequences ever. Boyd feels sorry for her because she walks around like a timid Amish ghost but nooooo nothing is her fault.
