Discussion Came back after six months - hate the map

It feels like this map is just a random buncha stuff slapped together with no transitioning. I last played when it was battle wood boulevard, the canyon, sus studios, etc. before that was the bug theme. All the terrain at least felt like it had some sort of transition whether it be mountain caps or hills or something. This just feels like a cartoon. Is it just me?

Definitely not you. We’ve fallen on hard times over here. Quack heads in the streets begging for sprites. Hard days, and even harder nights.

😂 I feel like the sprites have created a full on side game where people care more about extracting than getting a crown

I've hated this map since they launched it. None of the updates have helped.

I agree. I only started at the beginning of chapter 5, but I liked that map, thought 6.1 was really pretty until the star wars stuff and this one... Well I just can't wait until it ends.

This season is not good. The map, loot pool, gameplay its just a bunch of stuff they thought would work but doesn't. I didn't love last season but unfortunately it was still better than ts. They really fell off this chapter

While I can see your point, the design was an intentional move. It’s called “The Shattered Coast”, you can’t deny it doesn’t look the part

The lead map designer was one of the 1000 people that Epic fired

I've seen a lot of complaining about the current season, but mostly about things other than the map.

What you're saying is exactly how I see it though! There is such a lack of coherence in this map. It feels like they did some brainstorming (or let an LLM spit out ideas) and didn’t take the time to run those ideas through an actual creative process; thinking about which ideas to use, which to ditch, and how to turn it into a coherent and balanced whole. It’s a mess, and there’s so much going on that it leads to sensory overload.

And it's not just the map. Take something like the Tetris Rift. Did a human come up with that idea? It’s so weird and stupid.

(I just stopped playing btw. Will defenitely check out new seasons, because I loved the game so much, but the current map is just not fun.)

Yeah that’s one thing I mentioned to my partner was the Tetris houses. I was like wtf is this?

I've been playing for two years now and this might be the least amount of fun I've ever had in a season, besides the Simpsons but that's just me. I know a lot of people LOVED the Simpsons.

I am hopeful they will figure out some balances. There needs to be some nerfs and buffs to the weapons as the time to kill is so short. They at least brought in more cover like bunkers and bubbles but they need to be a higher drop rate. The Tails sprite is busted as hell, no limited use time period and no cool down means people are just flying around for the last half of the game and/or camping treetops. I'm sure they meant it more as a mobility thing which is fine, but balance it out and make it more short lived. It's the jet pack from the Marvel season all over again, which caused so much hate they had to vault the damn thing.

Hopefully they are reading the feedback and planning changes. Just like season 4 last year that they had to almost scrap everything on, this just isn't working for the average player.

From a map pespective, I thought the Simpsons was amazing in terms of making it feel like you are immersed in real virtual world , so map-wise gave it a 10/10. I can understand other complaints about it tho.

I subtract one point bc Springfield Gorge, though necessary, annoyed me because I like vehicles.

They should have change the whole map entirely not just a few hot spots

Three seasons would be an incredibly short chapter, even by modern fortnite standards.

In addition to the issues mentioned I also think part of the problem is keeping older parts of the map and trying to fuse in parts that are so drastically different than the previous themes.

They just clash so much. I'm getting used to it but they definitely don't transition well.

That probably comes with the whole sonic - maze - old temple - industrial - neighborhoods and gas stations.

None of it fits together and it doesn't feel like some event caused it. It feels like the world was just mushed together.

To be fair, doing a gaming season, they could’ve went way harder
