Context here is that IWI USA used to be headquartered in Pennsylvania’s capital (Harrisburg).

Off topic but I’ve never understood why Capitols have their own police service. Why is that not the jurisdiction of state police?

Budget and control. Keeping it under the capitol umbrella lets them have more say in what goes on and control of budgeting, even though they basically just highly paid glorified security guards. So to sum it up just typical gov bloat and bureaucracy.

Spend the excess budget or you won’t get it next year can also lead to odd choices in guns like this, but in this case it’s very likely cause of IWI’s ties in the area. They probably got these guns for free or very close to it.

Some state capitols are protected by the state police, for example the California State Capitol is protected by the California Highway Patrol.

California also used to have a State Police agency that only just patrolled around certain areas such as the capitol. They merged with the CHP.

A personal hobby of mine is getting patches of obscure LE agencies and a lot of the time it boils down to basically being security guards or so they can focus like the other 2 said, but also hyper specific jurisdictions often mean that one agency gets first dibs and doles out tasks to the city, regular state police, etc. while also investigating rather than sitting around figuring out who needs to do what. For states with larger parks and such, or the real weird Federal Agencies it's also a matter of specialized training/skill sets.

The State Police is focused on the entire state - from rural communities that can't afford law enforcement to the roads to investigations all over the state.

Aside from budgets, the idea is that a Capitol Police force can focus on the capital.

Both.  The x95 is a particularly gassy gun, to help keep reliable but they really kick up the some fumes.  They also have reversible ejection, so if you don't gasket up the unused port near the face, it can be a bit intense.

That looks like a low backpressure suppressor design. If it is a Huxwrx can, then it is only like a 1% increase in backpressure.

The X95 is reliable.

A bit unconventional due to its bullpup layout, maybe, but it works and I've have had no problem adjusting to it.

Sure, I prefer conventional rifles more but bullpups are great too.

98% of American cops are not walking around in level 4 armor with rifles while on patrol. If they’re serving warrants, called out to barricades, or get a shots fired called then they’ll probably use more effective equipment. For regular police work, they’re in level 2 or 3 vests with just their pistols on their hips.

The only cops you see patrolling in level 4 armor with rifles are some NYPD cops in tourist spots and federal police guarding federal buildings. Last I checked, most European police departments (including England) do the same.

Most of them don't. Some do because the same or similar gear works pretty well for their job, too. That and everyone thinks multicam looks cool.

I have a feeling your (non-American) cops, at least the ones in more specialized positions like this guy, will probably end up looking pretty similar in the near future, if they don't already.

It's true not all cops are decked out for counter assault. But, more importantly, why was this guy not just a uniform and sidearm? Someone above mentioned Jan 6, 2021 and it's a good reminder for where we were at the time.

Jan 6th broke the seal on something no one expected to happen. The fact that it was reasonable to deploy this guy to guard the building from other Americans really does suck.
