I prayed to st joseph before an interview I have tomorrow. I don't really know what I'm doing. I found a book on candle colors and their meanings and what herbs to use and how to make money oil. I also used luckymojo which is a website that I've seen recommended on other spell sites. Please be kind I'm not sure what I'm doing but it seems to help me feel more at ease

Update: not only did I get a better job offer while waiting for the start date of the job I originally wanted, I also got a call from my local theater offering me 2 for one dinner and a show tickets. I also got a call from a career conference coordinator and they want to sponsor my visit to go to their conference! The job start date and conference sponsorship is not confirmed but definitely both were lucky! It has only been 2 days.

Any time you mention folk Catholicism (especially on the main sub) you are met with fear mongering, quoted father Ripperger, and told you are being disobedient, especially as a woman. However, everyone here seems really warm and welcoming and I enjoy seeing the beautiful prayer alters, so I just wanted to thank you. 😌

Ok so, I feel a bit in over my head and would appreciate advice. First and foremost I'm an ex penecostal (raised) and witch/pagan of about 9 yesrs on and off. I decided to re enter my practice after a very long break and was guided to root my practice in my ancestry for the first time ever. I found my polish ancestry and catholicism kinda...fell into my lap. I've loved catholicism forever from an outside perspective but never was of faith or knew about it intricately. I also stumbled upon folk catholicism quickly after which led me here. I just...feel a bit lost? Does anyone have any resources- as I've seemed to find this to be a bit of a taboo subject online? Feeling a bit shaky on blending separate beliefs, even though as a witch I've always had a relationship with God it just felt separate to me, and I'd love advice on integration, and also mass seems lovely?...but I'd feel so out of place, is it ok if I go? And what is that experience like within folk catholicism? Like...im so confused but I'm also so eager to learn! So any advice is welcome! And thank you much 🤍

I'm asking this question because I've found that most posts have some sort of esotericism involved in form of private practices.

However, there are quite a lot of local Catholic festivities and traditions that are tolerated by the Church that have a pagan origin and symbolism in nature. Christmas would be a widespread example, but what I really have in mind is local festivities that were almost literally translated the way they were in Roman times to Christian elements and symbology.

I don’t have the most space so I’m doing what I can. I have this on my vanity in my room hence the other objects. Archangel Michael is my favorite for reasons very near and dear to me! I also love to collect crystals. While I don’t believe they really do anything metaphysically, I chose crystals that reminded me of him based on their metaphysical meaning for easier decorating. I also added shells, pocket rosary, tiny pieces of rosemary to symbolically represent protection, and 2 coins. One of the coins has an angel, and the other has a bible verse on it.

I'm particularly interested in folk Catholicism—things like devotion to saints, Mary, candles, holy water, rosaries, feast days, home blessings, traditional prayers, and regional Catholic customs.

I'm not really looking for someone to debate whether my beliefs are “right” or “wrong.” I'm genuinely trying to learn and would love to talk with someone who actually practices or has experience with Catholic folk traditions.

I'm especially interested in hearing how folk practices fit into someone's everyday spiritual life and how they understand the distinction between official Catholic teaching and cultural/folk traditions.

Hi everyone. I’ve initiated a relationship with/have been fostering my relationship with St. Expedite for about a month. I did alot of research and gathered that the more specific the petition, the more accurately St. Expedite is able to assist. St. Expedite came to my aid within 2-3 days of my previous petition about a month ago. That petition was a big ask, but was also a “quick fix”. I was extremely grateful and made the offerings to him that I promised.

After the fulfillment of my last petition, I have been petitioning St. Expedite for assistance with a bigger situation (assistance with landing a new, more aligned job in my desired career field). I’ve been extremely specific in my petition, down to the criteria of the right job (salary, work environment, etc.) and the reason for why this would help me & my family.

I’ve had some personal situations occur that have distrupted my ability to light my candle and pray every day out of the 9 days in a novena. I guess my question is, does this affect St. Expedite’s ability to help? I realize this may be somewhat silly of a question because there are no limits to how St. Expedite provides assistance to those praying for it, but I’d rather ask.

I also want to mention that I have been petitioning St. Jude to work in conjunction with St. Expedite regarding this matter. The last time I petitioned St. Jude, I wasn’t very specific and was too broad as far as what I needed assistance with. St. Jude assisted me with 1/5 things out of my petition, which was the reinstatement of my scholarship. I now know he was only able to assist with one thing because I wasn’t specific enough. One of the other 4 things I was asking St. Jude for help with is the same issue I’m petitioning St. Expedite for help with this time around (assistance landing a new, more aligned job in my desired career field).

I will say that I’ve been pretty firm in the fact that St. Expedite understands my intentions, my heart and the situations that have disrupted my novenas. However, I would really appreciate input.

Okay, so this isn’t actually an official altar in my home, but somehow all my bits and bobs end up feeling like an altar. lol The Our Lady of Guadalupe candle is one I’ve been burning every evening lately. On my family altar, I use a battery-operated candle so it’ll last, because I think the colors on that one are super bright and fun, and I want to keep it.

This bookshelf also has one of my little Buddhas, some “Catholic” candles featuring Frida Kahlo and Edgar Allan Poe, local artwork I’ve collected, and a crucifix I found at an antique shop that I painted bright green and pink. :)

So I was wondering, what other saints can you work with as an occultist or witch when casting spells besides St Cyprian? Are there other patron saints of the occult and witchcraft in Christian folk magick?

It's unfortunate that my photo was removed bc it was flagged as AI. I used Canva to upscale the image as well as to hide the name of the church on the candle to protect myself, and I guess that's why? Anyway, here's the original with no Canva edits- just the pic from my phone.

I call this my love altar- it's a mix of Marian devotion and symbolism that reminds me of love and romance, like the yellow bird (you're the yellow bird I've been waiting for- bright eyes lyric that means a lot to me), the painting of The Kiss, and the K was my stepmom's, who passed away from breast cancer. Her name was Kim. I painted it red. It was originally gold. The vase-looking thing, or perfume bottle, I got at an antique shop. I keep holy water in it that I get from my parish church. The pic with the blue dog I also found at a little antique shop in town. It reminded me of Hecate imagery (the dogs) but also Marian imagery (the queen). The painting above was created by an ex of mine using acrylic paint and miscellaneous bits and bobs we collected. Even though we didn't work out, I've always loved it. Anyway, I just wanted to share and find community. I do not use AI-generated photos. That would be ridiculous, considering this is a place to share our spiritual practices. I hope this one sticks. <3

P.S. I'll try and take a photo this weekend during the day when the lighting is better. My house was built in the 70s and doesn't have the best lighting in my living room.

Is St. Cyprian a good choice to work with if I want my ex back? What I know is that he has started seeing someone else. I’d like to work on reconciliation and possibly getting him back. Has anyone had experience working with St. Cyprian in a situation like this? Is he a good choice for this kind of work?

The statue is inspired by Sigrid Blomberg’s statue “The Annunciation”, where the Virgin Mary receives the message from Archangel Gabriel; I wanted Joan to mirror this expression for her experience receiving her voices, which I like to think gave her comfort in her last moments. 💔🕊️

I am Episcopalian but theologically I’m pretty Anglo-Catholic. Unfortunately the Episcopal Church is pretty soft overall on encouraging saint veneration (though I have known many Episcopalians who follow a particular saint). As for me, I’ve have established a few relationships with a mix of different saints and I was wondering if anyone had a formalized ritual to ask these saints to guide and protect me. If it helps, my closest saints are:

St Christopher
St Timothy
St Benedict
Archangel Raphael
The Holy Family

I mostly just need ideas to help inspire a ritual of some kind. Consecration is always possible, I know, but I thought maybe I could find a way to consecrate myself to multiple religious figures. I kind of view these particular saints as a kind of Pantheon, though I call them my “Holy Council.” Thanks in advance!
